One is already on and a 2nd is going on tomorrow. I really appreciate you passing them on. Worse case scenario is I get the wheels from the bad tires sandblasted and painted to be ready for some new tires some time down the road.
Yes they can. You'll see pics of the tires when I post later and the reason why I won't be taking it out on the road until I get them replaced.
There are a lot of NOS parts available from Red River Parts in TX and Muttparts in AL as well as the usual online auction places. Some of the big...
Cord with 2 male ends. Plug one into the wall outlet and the other into the generator. Problem is if the unit is hot and not plugged into the wall you have live 220.
I've done several threads along these lines in the past:

I just picked one up myself last week. Still a reasonable number of parts out there if you need anything, Red River Parts in TX, Mutt-parts in AL, the usual on-line type auction houses, and then the big truck guys that advertise here have a few but most of those are just common M-series stuff...
Well their heads did explode. Funny thing is I ran into Keith_J while I was there (and the line was still around the lobby). Strange coincidence.
Anyway, they could not figure out what to put in for "body type." I suggested "truck, 1 1/4 ton" but they said it had to be something from their...
While I have issues with GSA they are hands down the best at getting SF97 paperwork out (at least the GA headquarters). The sale ended on 1/23, paperwork is dated 1/24 (a Saturday), and it was in my mailbox 1/31. GL and GovPlanet could only dream of those turn around times. Now off to the tax...
Well it doesn't appear to be an idler arm issue. I spoke with a knowledgable Goat person today who said it's likely water intrusion into the front gear box locking it up. I've been cleaning the area in the footwell to try and get a look at it but need a little more time to get to the point I...
You're well ahead of me. I'm going to crawl under mine this morning and check to see if the idler arms are jammed up. That's easier than diving into the steering boxes on SuperBowl Sunday. The wife wanted to know if we could take it for a spin and I told her we could back down the driveway...
We were probably following the same route, at least to just before San Antonio. You didn't see a truck being driven by 3 half awake guys towing a Goat did you?
I'm going to resurrect this 5 year old thread as I'm having similar difficulties with my new Goat. As it's currently raining I'll forego the immediate inspection of the idler arms but will be taking a look at them tomorrow. As the symptoms of mine feel like there is something bound up I'm...
Mutt Parts has NOS tailgates for $150. Not sure how much shipping would be but that seems pretty reasonable for what it is. I'll probably get in touch with them since mine is trashed as well.
You're more than welcome to come out and play. What do you know about complicated steering set ups? You can play as long as you like on that. Or I'm sure we can keep busy getting the brakes working :)
One of the things discovered this afternoon on mine was that the right fuel tank is disconnected. Not sure why they put fuel in it but the connections inside the engine compartment aren't hooked up. I'm thinking I need to take the TMs and just start at the front tow hooks (which are missing)...
Glad to hear it's running. Any transmission issues like the ad posting said? Does it steer any better than mine?
I sure like the color of yours a whole lot better than the color of mine. Looks like your tires were better too.
Same in TX. It has happened to me several times and as long as I have an invoice that shows GL collected the tax I was not charged that amount when registering the vehicle.
Oh I knew about many of the issues but still wanted one. The steering as it is now is not right. I know other people with Goats and there is something wrong somewhere I just need to figure out what it is. With what I have in this unit, including recovery costs, I could still probably double...
Nope, Northern Idaho grows wheat not potatoes. While we might pass through that area I try not to stop as they're a different sort of folk and I'm prejudice (well not really. I dislike everyone equally).
While it turns out it was in 6xLow that doesn't appear to be the whole issue with the steering. It was minutely better after I got it off the trailer but still horendous. Imagine a parked deuce in sticky mud and you try to turn the wheel sitting still. The wheels might move a fraction but not...
Forgot to mention the stats from the trip:
Mileage - 2575.3 (round trip)
Fuel - 200.9 gallons
That beats what we would have done if I'd gotten the Goat in Idaho. That would have been around 3750 round trip.
