Longhunter 7 had suggested the dial type to me, so he might have suggestions as to a manufacturer/part number. Mine's a knife switch from Advance Auto.
I've got a hole in the door of the toolbox on the driver's side which lets me put in a padlock to keep the door latch from opening. I'll take...
Thoughts on the Deuce-inspired oil changing process after a first experience:
<UL>
* There are two oil drain plugs in the oil pan. DON'T head immediately for the obvious one near the nose of the truck. If you start with the one BEHIND the front axle you won't have the pressure of all 22...
Update:
Long-haul truckers in my extended family seem to think that my issue is with the "blocking ring" (or whatever Uncle Sam may call it) which holds the shift lever in place once set in high or low drive. The adventure continues....
I'm about two hours west on 460 towards Roanoke. Most others on Steelsoldiers are further west than I or in the Soverign Republic of Northern Virginia. (I grew up there, by the way.)
Cranetruck,
Being thermodynamically challenged in the vehicular department, how did you come to the size of the open areas in the plywood? Is that the cumulative square inches provided in the winter front? How do the shape and placement of the holes influence the heat retention/dissipation?
Fellas,
The TMs on painting and marking explain the meanings. For the Sixties to '75 TB 746-93-1 is the answer.

Pleased to be of service! It is nice to know even my limited knowledge can be used!
I'll be driving through Prospect, VA next weekend on my way to Newport News. What's the draw for you from the Garden State, Mark? Family, job, large tracts of land?
To use the hazzards you grasp the little control on the base of the turn signal stalk and pull it towards the end of the stalk (about 1/2") and at the same time rotate the stalk further towards the sky like you were signalling for a double right-hand turn.
To release the flashers, simply flip...
I'll be changing the oil on Opie's Folly for the first time tomorrow.
I didn't find anything on topic in a search of the forum, so here goes:
How long does it need to sit for the oil to drain enough to change the filters without a mess? Fifteen minutes? An hour?
Any other tips on the...
Yup, an M109 it is, but hangovers require lots of water - therefore a purification truck would be in order!
I didn't see any piles of clearance/marker lights I'm afraid, but Ben Thrasher's e-mail is surplus@rbnet.com according to his card. Perhaps he had some stashed.
Bjorn,
That would be fantastic! Once the hospital sorts out my schedule for July, I'd love to visit you. I'll keep in touch.
(How many cases of wine from the famous Black Dogs vinyard in Meadows of Dan will fit in a van body...?)
I'll be heading to Newport News Saturday, June 18 and was wondering if there was anywhere I should look in should time permit.
I understand Spunky's Motor Pool in Williamsburg has a checkered history and I should practice caveat emptor should I decide to visit them.
Let me ask an armor-related question. What's the purpose of the three large and one small round tubes mounted at the base of the turret and are angled forward and upward?
Okay, hang onto your seats, as my late grandfather wouldn't want me to pass up this opportunity... Tanks for your response!
I saw the pair of horns on a shelf at Thrasher's yesterday. No idea about their asking price.
Thrasher Machinery & Salvage 19063 Main St., Buchanan, VA 24066 (540) 254-2390
I'm afraid Thrasher Machinery & Salvage is another sign of what GL has done to the "little guys." They apparently once did a fair trade in deuces, but haven't for a while now. They've one M35A2 sans bed which they hope to bob "someday," an M1009 which they'd like to sell (neglected to ask...
Well, looks like the hope of free biodiesel fuel for non-farmers in Virginia has evaporated for the coming year. :shakehead:
The rebate program for the 2004-2005 fiscal has exhausted its funding. The program for 2005-2006 fiscal year which starts July 1st will be only for farmers (producers)...
