Doesn't the fuel tank have an internal pump? Like it's part of the sending/pick-up unit? I could be wrong but if that's the case and if in doubt--- replace it, no?
Appreciate the comments. My trade is crane-work and I run tower cranes that are ALL electric. From past experience with moisture getting into electronics, I was hoping you all wouldn't think this TOO dumb a question. Anyway, it's always iffy spraying water AROUND elec components. And BOY--- can...
Geezz-Awmighty---- Floridians comin' outta' the wood-work around here! (it's a good thing)
Welcome to the forum and hey--- I was raised just down the road from ya'll on Anna Maria Island... and oh yea'--- I sure miss that old Tampa Bay.
Best of luck~!
Ok guys, just picked up my M1008 from Barstow and want to get to work on things. So I've spent a couple of days searching this site for anything on decreasing and pressure washing engine compartments and I got zilch. This HAS to be done before I can do any work under the hood because there is so...
Welcome aboard, I'm just up the hill from you a piece... and I'm kind of like you; schlepped around this site for a while before I took the plunge and couple thousand bucks and 60-some days later, the prize is finally sitting in my driveway; M1008.
Good luck to ya'~!
Good point, and haven't done this yet to my rig but I always use Liquid tape or rubber cement or something more permanent than elec-tape. That stuff dries out and unravels and now whatta' ya' got? Possible short!
Another point I ponder; wouldn't it be prudent to solder your wiring to the spade...
Paint AND tires?! Dude, we gotta' talk! That thing looks bitchin' and makin' me want to get one.... or something like it!
Hope to see ALL the Clan Dirt out there and 'cause you'll be just down the road from my house a piece... am wondering... will Sat be a clean-up day officially?
ciao~!
P.S...
Geez-Awmighty! A TH350 behind a big block turning 1-ton axles shod w/ 38" rubber? Me thinks bad moon on the rise... unless you wanna' just keep it parked in the driveway, something is eventually gonna' blow chunks right out the side of the case or pan.
Huh? Does GL let you come on base to inspect BEFORE EUC is cleared? How did you know BEFORE you picked up the vehicle that something was missing?
Never heard of this, can you shed some light?
Good info, and I was with ya' all the way up to the "ran out of Lacquer thinner..." and "... used pump gas as a solvent..." EYEEEE! I did the pump gas solvent thing years ago too until I took a training course on HAZMAT. Gasoline has benzine and it's so toxic that the harmful levels are measured...
Strangely, the best parts cleaner I (accidentally) discovered for really nasty, caked-on, baked-on greasy-grease parts is... OVEN CLEANER. Yep, Mom's good old fashioned oven cleaner. BUT--- you will need to take a few precautions and READ THE LABEL FIRST. Try it on some nasty old parts and see...

It's in El Primo area 'cause IT IS El Primo! And I'll bet that wreaking yard wants Mucho Dinero for ANYTHING off that old carcass.
An aside... those photos take me back and I wonder if that old Dodge isn't one of the half-dozen or so that our instructors used to haul us green-horn...
Not really load out help, I've already set up for a towing company to make the pick BUT--- I'm hoping to score an IGN key for this thing from SoCAl locals. Anybody got a key I can copy? NEED IT BY WEDNESDAY SEPT 22. Can come to your area, copy key and return; CALL ME ANYTIME 714-788-3998
P.S...
All kinds of stuff going on in my little world right now so it's impossible to make solid plans but, just might just make this camp out but---- need key for M1008!
EUC finally cleared, appointment set to load out in Barstow on 9/23/10 and really hoping to score a copied key from any SoCal...
YEA! Luv to hear those Tales of The Golden Gear Vendor! Lots of people swear by them and I mean for years, thats all I've ever heard is positive. There was someone though on K5 forum who didn't care for the GV behind a Saginaw manual trans. Claimed it didn't give you a decent spit--- rpm-wise-...
