chains
I can check for you tonight (18:00 Central) when I get home but perhaps someone else can do it earlier today to. They are approximately two feet but this is not a measured length at this time.

These are the new style seats.
When a wooden slat is bad and they order a new one this is what they get
in place of the wood.
jimm1009 :-D
PS: Perhaps there is a difference in length between a M35A2 & a M35A2C seat due to the drop side.
Did these come from a drop side truck perhaps?
I have been using a rigid mount (similar to the civy vehicle shown in this thread) and also similar to the M38 jeep pintle for 15 years without problems.
This is mounted to an adapter plate that plugs into a conventional receiver hitch.
I would think that you would abosrb a lot of liability if...
I suggest asking the state police and jot down the name and the time and date of your conversation.
When you get teh SF-97 and other paperwork then go with the paperwork to the state police or local sherrif and get the VIN verification.
Then get it home, send the SF-97 request in to GL with all...
I did not think about that one stump.
I had to replace a hub due to a spun bearing and one other time I purchased a new spindle.
Both came from O'riellys Auto partw with a life time waranty in case you do need parts.

There is a production change in the style of nut used. '85 and newer is slightly different.
The stack up is the locking hub, clip for inner portion of locking hub, clip ring for outer diamter of lucking hub, outside bearing retaining nut, then the locking washer (flat) that is keyed, and then...
You can run to town two or three times but you do want to fix it for two reasons. The first is that if oil is drippinr out then it is also getting on your brake shoes and oily brakes don't have much friction.
2nd reason is that it will eventually ruin the bearings too but
that is not nearly as...
If you have a NP208 it will be a 208C and it is chain drive.
If you have a NP205 it is gear drive.
Chain drives are fine if you take care of them.
I have 178,000 miles on my M1009 with it's orginial 208 case still installed
but many prefer the 205 with it's gearing.

marker lights
I just received my new ones from LMC truck and they are nice. About $13 each. These are easy to find at Autonzone and O'reilly's and probably Pepboys too. Peterson is one aftermarket supplier that comes to mind.
Also JC Whitney has them too.
Civy units has Chrome or No-chrome...
tailgate
If the only hole is the one on the mid left side then you can fix that pretty well if you have someone that can weld.
If you fix it or find another one, I would recommend going to the electric window riser.
It only needs three wires and a switch and is a pretty easy installation.
It's...
Too fast for quick stopping. No matter how good your tires are or your front end alighmnet 98% of all M1009 trucks will fish tail to the right when skidding.
The olnly way to pull out is to release the brakes and that can lead to other problems (BANG).
If you have 33 inch tires you can...
If you are talking about the brake warning light on the dash then you will need a full system bleed to get it to go away. The plug is on the proportioning valve on the front center frame area below the radiator and you may want to check for corrosion too.
If you are talking about the actual...
More than likely the '70 was a Kaiser-Jeep product. In late '71 or early '72 AM General purchased the Kaiser-Jeep tooling and started production.
Around mid'72 they started using their own data plates.
This can be seen on some other threads on the history of the deuce.

Just remind her of all the flowers and mulch and other girly stuff that you can haul for her whenever shee needs you too.
I planted a new flower bed and "had to get some framing timbers" and that clinched it for me.

data plate info
The one thing that could be missing is the year. Not all replacement data plates added by Uncle Sam after rebuild or damage had the year added.
My truck also stated that it was a M35A2 when it was an M35A2C (drop side).
That was obvious since it had the drop side bed and the...
dual heater system
Unfortunately I have not yet done this but was in the planning stage. One for Defrost / defog only and one for heat only.
If your hoses are in series they may work better than in parallel and I personally think that the system would flow better since it would be a loop...
M1009
I purchased mine in mid 1995 drove it for 3,000 miles with the OEM tires on it and then switched to 33/12:50 x 15 tires on the same wheels because Uncle Sugar had mostly worn out the others.
I can drive mine at 72 MPH for hours and hours.
I've driven it from my house to my parents four...
GM did away with this switch later in life. It is not something that was for military only and they took it out of the prints. The newer fuel filter block is not drilled for the switch so there is no problem with using it and fuel leaks.
Plug it in and go!

Not trying to put a damper on things but the max legal wattage is 60 bright & 55 dim in order to meet DOT specs and pass inspection.
I know that H4 lights are nice and I have also been using them for 10+ years in my M1009 but they are 12 volt units of course and are 60 / 55 which keeps the...
I recommend not hooking up the brakes at all until you get it home. The reason is that they shoes could be completely worn out and you would then have metal to metal contact and brake drums are not available at Autozone.
Secondly you don't need them for getting it home.
Just make sure your...
