    Battery post melt down

The terminal clamps cold. The solder would fill the gaps and restore most of the contact area. Can't see calling it cosmetic only. The post and clamp could be preheated. Solder melts at ~half the temp of lead = safer.

    Battery post melt down

More of the same issue : http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?96420-Melted-Battery-Terminal-any-Options-And-new-Seat-Covers/page2 How about cleaning the post and clamp and melting solder down in the connection to fill the void? Much less dangerous (cooler) than lead.

Assistance: Deuce Brakes Locked, California - San Diego, Chino, Bishop area

He is not referring to the truck system air pressure, although 120 might be a little high and exacerbating things. He's referring to the airpack (air powered brake booster) possibly having failed (internal valving) and applying the brakes.

    75 mph in a Deuce

I'd think you'd need more cubes and torque

    Deuce drifting

Yeah, at least the wrecker would act as a rollbar of sorts.

    Deuce drifting

Not for the faint of heart or inexperienced for sure. Fuel turned up helps. I've been doing such things in vehicles almost that big for years now, so deuce wasn't bad for me. Gotta give the steering wheel all you got as fast as you can to steer into the slide. That parking lot is perfect as...

Sending my Deuce to Organizational Maintenance Unit (a.k.a. Jeepsinker)

I added some to my '70 on gimp's suggestion, since it had sat and possibly had gummy fuel in the IP. I think I added a can of seafoam to a 1/4 tank or so. Made her purr like a kitten. That, adjusting the valves, turning up the fuel and idle, she's a much smoother, quieter, more powerful truck...

Starter Solenoid terminals loose - problem?

The terminals are loose in the housing. I've had them twist off inside on other vehicles before, so it makes me nervous. I will have to very carefully loosen the nuts while not letting the other nuts/stud turn, and try to tighten the base nuts...but I wonder if I shouldn't pull it off and see...

Starter Solenoid terminals loose - problem?

The '70 has always required good hot batts to start, and I have had lots of problems with loose, dirty, or cracked connections melting and burning stuff. In contrast, my '62 has a mechanical (foot) engaged starter and nasty dirty old cables, 24v, and my '66 is 12v with same junk cables, and...

    M35A2 performance in Sand

Thanks for serving, Rusty. I'm a long time limit pushing offroader, somewhat new to deuces, but have been driving heavy diesels offroad a long time. They get along in the sand, even dunes if you know what you're doing. Weight in the back helps. I have some ideas and theories I need to put out...

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

My understanding is rotella has 1200ppm of zddp/zinc which is a friction killer. Maybe not ideal break-in oil, but I'm no expert.

3,000# in the bed, trailer was too heavy and too stuck. In hindsight, I should have pulled on the semi truck from pavement. https://youtu.be/y9KLCiMd3h0
