The mk 17 is one of the "back halves" that can be attached to the MK 48 LVS (looks similar to, but is not a hemtt)

as much force as it had to take to do that I would be suprised if that is the only thing bent/ broken. I would at the very least pull apart and inspect the spindle on that corner and keep a close eye on it in the future.

Not that you would want to, but could you install it backwards and get a .38 : 1 overdrive ratio and a 1.33 : 1 underdrive ratio?
the cherokee is a little smaller than your LC, but should give you an idea of scale. Empty I don't think you would have a problem, but with a load on it I think it would push you around pretty badly if you have to swerve or brake hard.
