I had the same problem, came on here and reported, and was told to look for dirt dobbers clogging up the holes too. Sure enough, there was mud in there. I got a screwdriver and scraped it out, and the air was just a flowing. I almost couldn't believe it, except a SSer was the source. Cool stuff.

You're probably going to be at a breakeven price after fixing it all up. You might do better to find one that is in much better shape, but having the quality up front, and save yourself a great deal of effort. You should be able to get a good quality deuce for $4500-5500, depending on how it is...

If you took pictures of the leaks, that would help eliminate some of the guess work. Is the pop at 2K consistant? You need burn off the fuel in there, change out the filters, and go with clean diesel to investigate further. The smoke could be the fuel. Is it surface rust, easily cleaned with...

Don, What type or model number is it? There's a few different types. Not sure if you have the standard blue one used by the miltary a while back or a different COTS model. Is there any other LED, like a green one not lit when the red is on?
