Here's a couple more shots of the OD paint.
I've started putting the Sinai Grey on and am not having much luck. I'm going with the Behr House Paint as the easiest way to get the correct color but can't get the viscosity correct. It's either too thick to spray or too thin to keep from sagging...
Okay I'm having poor results on my first go around. How do you guys mix the paint thin enough to spray but still thick enough that it doesn't sag like crazy? I'm going to have to sand my first batch down and start over.
Now you tell me. I also took my hat off to put my respirator on and forgot to put the hat back on. Now I've got that crusty feeling on the top of my head as well (except the strips where the straps went:?).
Paint on!
Okay the 1st couple of coats of color went on this afternoon. For not having painted anything since just after high school (coming up on 30 years for those keeping track) it went surprisingly well. Only hiccup was when I tried to use the longer air hose and wasn't getting enough...
A dive shop owner in Coeur d'Alene, ID lifted a '32 Ford Coupe off the lake bottom back in the early '80s. He floated it to just below the surface then used his boat to tow it back to the boat ramp and pulled it out there. If I recall correctly it still had air in 3 of the tires. It was in...
Keith_J was out again today and we got a full coat of primer shot on the cab and front end. It wound up going on fairly dry so we went over it with some 180grit just to knock down the high spots.
No shots of the truck but take a look at what tried to get into my shop while we were sanding...
Things have been going pretty slow since the run up to our vacation and the wind down after getting back.
Keith_J did come out and fab a new elbow for the fording kit. The old one was rusted out on both sides of the pass through of the engine cover. Luckily I had an additional hole blank...
It's great that we can find the TMs at another site but would be even greater if they were available here again so you didn't need to GO to another site.
I have most of the ones I need downloaded on my computer with a back up on a flash drive but when the time comes that I might need one for...
We're shutting the shop down for a week while the wife and I tour Ireland in a tuna can on wheels (sit on the right, stay on the left, shift with your left hand - say a prayer we make it back).
The body work is done for the most part although I think I need to work on the top of the cowl a...
Here's what I had mixed at Home Depot. I think it's about 1/2 way between the 2 colors I have on my vehicle but the closest I could get. I think it'd be difficult to tell the difference unless a vehicle with the exact color was sitting next to it.
Dead tired was correct. I slept 11 hours last night and feel much better.
Keith was almost correct on the floor patch (no flipping). Since both parts of the M37 floor are almost mirror images (a slight difference at the rear where the fuel filler goes) we were able to take the unrusted left...
Here's my attempt at Sinai Grey. It's about 1/2 way between the 2 versions that I had as samples so I doubt anyone could tell it's not the original.
After drying a couple of days it's showing more of a semi-gloss than a dead flat sheen but the texture is still pretty rough and I may have to...
As promised here's the photo of the bed front panel welded together.
The next 2 pics are of the sample of Sinai Grey that I had mixed up at Home Depot. It's not dead on but pretty close to the original, actually about 1/2 way between the 6 Day War color and the Yom Kippur color but without an...
