32 inch tires
Not to try to change your mind but the M1009 (all years) came from the factory with 31 / 10:50 x 15 tires (with 15 x 8 wheels) with the speedometer calibrated for this size.
Your choice of the 32 inch tires is not three inches different than the factory size and your truck had the...
That judge should have been relieved of his duties by the bar association and / or state of his residence.
This is an excellent example of an Ambulance Chaser at his best.
When I purchased my first MV (M1009 CUCV) I wired in a relay and oil pressure switch to the dim healights.
When ever...
impact damage
In defense of the rice-mobile it did break on of the reflectors but it was sun damaged so definitely Deuce 1 - Toyo 0.
Did you even feel the impact of the "want to be truck"?

Bad Advice
Guys and Gals it seems that I don't know entirely what the heck I'm talking about.
I took a picture of the Deuce front and the CUCV front with the same shackle installed on both trucks. It is a 1 inch diameter pin for both trucks and both shackles.
What I royally screwed up on is...
Paints
Now remember that this is not the REAL C.A.R.C. which you don't want anyway due to application / health hazards while curing but it does look just like it when dry.
Contact Rapco and you can get a rattle can of the colors that you think that you want and then try them out on some parts...
I agree he does do a good job with paint but remember that three color camo is not the ORIGINAL paint scheme for the deuce. They were were painted Vietnam era Olive Drab first and then later painted in the 3 color woodland camo, or the three color desert camo, or solid desert tan, solid green...
You will also need to sway out the pulleys since you don't need a 4 groove pulley system and the tach drive is on the back where the vacuum pump needs to go for the CUCV.
It is a very easy swap as I have done it twice.
I seem to remember that the engine driven fuel pump is slightly different due...
dual front wheels
If you have big enough arms to do this on the road you could still have problems with the the L.E.O.s due to state laws regarding tire extension beyond the wheel wells. If you have some fender extensions made then that would keep them off your back more than likely.
In the...
tie down shackels
Historically speaking the following is not correct but the front shackels from a deuce or 5 ton work just as well on the front of a CUCV and actually look more correct.
I've had a deuce front set on my M1009 for 15 years and they work just fine.
The deuce rears will on the...
Welcome aboard
Ich lebte im Fielderstadt-Harthousen Süden von Stuttgart für 2 Jahre und ich liebte es dort. Begrüßen Sie an Bord der Stahlsoldaten unseren neuen O.D. grünen Bruder! (1988 bis 1990)

MY '84 M1009 has them and so does the '85 replacement body tub that I acquired from Gene 6 years ago.
I'm surprised that yours does not as the bodies were all made int he same plant and then seperated out for military versuses civy.

VIN Check
Here is Louisiana and my home state of Indiana you can drive the vehicle to the police department even though the vehicle is not registered (you must have insurance) because they know that you have to have the VIN check done before you can initially register or title the vehicle.
It's...
11echo your truck was smiling when it was dirty.
Good to see that your are using it for it's intended purpose.

PS: I wish I could get mine dirty too!
Sf-97 example
What the heck, here is mine for a truck that was recently sold to a good home.
I removed the address but everything else is there.
This should serve as a good example of what they will need in most states if you are the buyer from G.L.
Hope this helps,

CUCV hubs
That is one other small differnce between Uncle's truck and the civy ones.
The civy units had an automatic hub that has no dial on it for manual engagement.
Uncle stipulated that he wanted manual hubs on his trucks so the Warn economy version of hub was installed at the factory...
1 more small thing
There is one other small odity that Uncle has that the Civy unit does not is that even though the 6.2 is the OEM engine, the forward mounts are for a 350.
I don't know why they did this but if you go to the auto parts house looking for 6.2 motor mounts they won't work.
The...
Has anyone mounted a front axle (or two) on the rear spring set up either with it mounted up front or off the truck just to see if it would fit?

follow-up info
I withdraw my questions. I found a link below in one last search and now have what I need.

jimm1009 :-D :-D
I troubleshot my brake light system and found that my hydraulic brake switch (old style) has failed.
I know that there is a PS Magazine article on the conversion to the Air Brake Switch but practicly speaking, where can you order the entire kit? The electrical connections are the easy parts but...
Has anyone performed or attempted to perform a 2nd front axle installation on a Deuce for offroad-only applications?
It seems possible to install and drive the 2nd axle jsut as the rears are installed and driven.
Pictures would be nice too if possible. :-D :-D
It seems like it could be a real...
