Some of the guys on SS have reported finding incorrect springs installed inside of the leaking wheel cylinders on their deuces. The springs they found were square shouldered, not tapered.
I have included a couple of pictures of one of the kits I got from OD Iron (with the correct springs)
I...
First, there should be a 3x5 inch (approx) yellow label near the door for the master cylinder that says DOT5 only.
Take your finger, and dip it into the master cylinder sump, and then dip your finger into a glass of water. If it is DOT 3, the slippery feeling of the fluid will simply vanish...
The problem with thick bondo patches is it doesn't flex the same as the sheet metal, and seems to show through after time. 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch is about the max.

Some years ago, I went to a tractor show, and saw an MB jeep with an Ag hitch, and plow. I had never seen one before, so I asked my dad about it, and he told me that after WWII, jeeps showed up on surplus fairly cheaply, and some farmers tried using them to plow fields. It was a colossal...
Heat expands. Differential expansion cracks loose rust, paint, locktite, corrosion, whatever is holding the plug. No need to make it red, just stinking (smoking) hot is enough.

If the SAE gear oil numbers were extended down from their minimum of SAE 75 to SAE 50, the viscosity of the resulting oil would be about the same as SAE 5 engine oil.... in other words, real thin stuff... I bet it isn't.
The so called SAE 50 gear oil is just relabeled SAE 90 gear oil.

There are two SAE oil ranges: one for SAE motor oil, and one for SAE gear oil. The ranges from SAE 0 through SAE 50 are motor oils, and the ranges from SAE 75 through SAE 250 are gear oils.
The viscosity, or thickness, of the oils in the two ranges are comparable... with SAE 75 gear oil...
Cool!
I would bet that the PMCS depot has a huge tank full of 15W40 oil with an electric pump on it. Someone probably wasn't paying attention to the meter on the pump.

One thing to note: the deuce will only read FULL on the dipstick at 60 seconds after shutting down the engine... After 6 or more hours, when all the oil has returned to the oil pan, it is supposed to read 1-1/4 inches above the FULL mark.

You could just bypass the FDC and hope for the best, or you could test it. The FDC unbolts from the injection pump with 4 screws. Remove the screws, and lift the FDC out of the IP. With all of the fuel lines connected, turn on the accessory switch so that the in tank fuel pump starts...
"No standard applies" means that no standard applies to military vehicles. It is a prohibition against any of the standards in the CFR being applied to military vehicles.

I guess you could build a stone wood fired pizza oven in the bed, and become a rolling pizzeria? You'd be the hit of any HMV gathering.
Seriously, it would be better to find a car, any car, to do the delivery work. Deuces are great fun to drive when you are on the long and straight road. Add...
The multifuel engine is a very interesting contraption. It was originally designed by the famous diesel engine company MAN as the MAN Hypercycle Engine, also known as the Whisper Diesel. MAN engineers were attempting to design a compression-ignition (C-I) engine that burned the fuel slowly...
It depends more than a little bit on what amenities the 880 Dodges, or CUCV's are missing. For instance, if it is missing the applicable pollution equipment for the date of manufacture, it won't get past DOT. Likewise, if it needed passive restraint, and it had manual seat belts... (remember...
Dr Greg showed you a picture of a truck that Mike (the best GL employee ever!) was loading with a civy car. The ramp is on base at Ft. McCoy, WI.
