The "US ARMY 2443843" markings are the typical markings found on the M37 tailgate. These will also be painted on the sides of the hood. The "2443843" is the registration (or USA) number for the vehicle. The actual serial number or frame number is on the frame just forward of the driver's...
Greetings,
The IMVPA will be meeting this weekend, 10 NOV, at 10:00AM. The meeting place will be at Larry Dorsey's place in NW Indianapolis. If you want to go and don't have an address, PM me.
I haven't been to this location before so I don't know where it is except from Mapquest. But I...
Vinyl Adhesive
We used an adhesive to repair one of the vinyl/plastic cargo covers on a deuce a few months back. It set up quick and is still holding tight dispite being at the rear corner curved around the bow. We got it at a local tentage repair shop. It is made by R-H Product Co and the...
Next meeting
That's OK, the next meeting will be the second Saturday in November. The location will be in one of two places. Either the regular site at the American Legion in Carmel or at a location in north edge of Indianapolis. Ted will set the location as it gets closer.
Thanks for all the info. I'll get this to him and we'll get these lights wired up right! And a lot safer-I'm surprised he hasn't grounded out that hot wire by now. Then I'll see if I can get him to put it on something that can be removed for those VN reenactments.
I don't specifically...
Hello all,
I have two questions about the deuce:
1. A friend has a 1964 M35A2 that he has a convoy light mounted on. He wants to wire the light properly but doesn't have a manual/TB for it. Right now, he just twists a couple of wires together when he wants it on (oy! it kills me everytime...
Thanks, I've been looking everywhere for the hours. All I've found was that set up begins at noon today. So, it runs till 5PM today and tomorrow. What time does it open tomorrow?
Yep, same with mine. The transmission I currently have on my truck was full of water at a stripping yard (Howard's yard in KY). I rebuilt it-replaced all the bearings, wire brushed the gears and case. It is still running and performs great.
Second saturday, 8 September, at the Ropkey Armor Museum at 1000. The museum is at 5649 E. 150 North, Crawfordsville, IN.
Here is their website for more information on the museum: http://ropkeyarmormuseum.com/
Hope to see you there
A bit off genre but I got a BMW that way once. While stationed in Germany, a friend of mine had an BMW that stopped running. Finally (after several months of tinkering with it), he put it out in the unit that if anyone could get it running, they could have it. I went over, checked fluids...
Welcome
Welcome to the M37s. I like them because they are easy to work on; not too big, not too small.
Make sure you get over to G741.org and register it. Looking forward to seeing how this one cleans up.
Radios
Carmen,
I'd start over at Mark Green's Radio Site. He has a section on '50s vehicular radios that has some really good info (http://www.nf6x.net/greenradio/grcsets/grcsets.html). Some of it depends on the era and user context. There are more modern sets used that replaced the older...
M37 Heater Kit
Hello Ziky
I collected my heater kit over a period of several years from various sources. There is an add in the MVPA Supply Line that may help you. Here is the contact information: Leo in Ohio (USA), 440-949-8767. No email, just a phone number. His add says he has "cab...
Yellow Cad Paint
Thanks for the info. I found a "gold cad" spray on Eastwood. It looks the closest to what I'm looking for. Anyone ever use this? I think the base gold color would work fine without all the red and green tinted oversprays for these connectors. Maybe if the parts were bigger...
Hello all,
Has anyone ever replated or painted their douglas connectors? I am rebuilding my M37 rear harness and plan on reusing the metal shells. Either I'm going to paint them some kind of gold or brass color or get them replated while they are apart. (Probably paint them-I'm sure its...
Kenneth,
Have you checked over at the G741.org registry? Your SN falls between two trucks, one USN & the other USMC. May have been used by either maybe. Also, carefully sanding the bumpers and tailgate often will show more markings to trace the truck to.
Just a reminder to all here in central Indiana, and further, that the annual MV swap meet and rally sponsored by the Indiana MVPA chapter is coming up 13 - 15 July. It will be at the Historic Military Vehicle Museum located in Anderson, IN. Usually has some pretty good deals (or should I say...
Just asking. It was a good show last year. With gas prices peaking, wondered if anyone else was going. I'm driving 2 1/2 hours but if it were any more, I'd have to think about it.
