BTW - it's a shame the original bed is gone, and the frame from the M10/M332 ammo trailer is gone as well. However, I've seen someone use a M332 bed for a bobbed deuce bed, it looked pretty neat. Might be able to save that here as well....

Wish I was so lucky to live near a fire dept. that had older stuff. All the FDs around here got 1990s and later equipment. Even the brush trucks are late model Chevy trucks. Save what you can! I'm sure the other guys here can use the parts....

They got recycled into AMC Gremlins. Then melted down into 1989 Nissans. Then melted into 2003 Toyotas. Most are still driving around in that form. ;)

I think the onboard air system is an awesome upgrade - sure to come in handy on the trail, especially for airing up/down the tire pressure, or running air tools. Ever think about an under-hood welder for trail repairs? A lot of offroaders have installed them...

If the clutch plate is rusted to the flywheel, a long crowbar can fix that, at least temporarily. I remember a Four Wheeler article from years back when they bought a old flat-fender jeep that was sitting for 30 years, and they opened the clutch inspection plate, inserted crowbar and pried like...

The 880s are tough trucks. They will not be able to pass a gas station without tanking up, though. 8mpg was pretty crappy, but par for the course in mid 1970s. I'd love a diesel in an M880. That 886 is pretty sweet! Great save!
