Hello Danger,
I was also thinking of one of those, and also a deuce..
But I have to be realistic, I would only be able to afford only one MV,
maybe two at the most.
So when it comes to choosing any vehicle, my only concern is safety,
and that it meets my practical needs, and I can afford...
Hi guys,
I like my M1009 when it is running too... And it's versatility.
But perhaps someday I would like to get an M1028?? Dually...
That way, if and when I ever have a heavy load to tow, I can git'er done.
Good night,
CJ
Hello,
I have one question for the original poster..
Is the lizard dead? It sure does look dead.
ROFLMAO!!
(No need to answer, I can see it is dead, that was just my attempt at humor...)
Good night,
CJ
Hi,
As good as that rack looks, and as much as I would like a rack like that for my M1009.
That amount would take me a few months to save up. Unless I sell something/s,
win the lottery, or get an unexpected big bonus at work.. (yeah right...).. Or I could
make payments.
Good night,
CJ
Islandguydon,
I live on Delk road, right off the I-75, in Marietta, Ga.
Just north of Atlanta, ga.
I would be glad to help. I drive a M1009.
PM with contact information already sent.
Good night,

Seabee,
Why don't you just look around for an M1028A2?
It is a pretty much a dually variant of the M1008.
As seen here:
Chevy CUCV Truck, Shelter Carrier, 1 1/4 Ton, 4x4 M-1028
No conversion needed then..
Good luck..
CJ
Hi Guys,
Today, I drove my M1009 to and from work without any serious issues.
So far, so good.
Thank you for all your help guys, God bless America and all of you...
Good night,
CJ
Hi all,
I had a theory as to why this site is so slow.
Maybe the people that run the technology that runs Steel Soldiers did not put enough,
gerbils on the treadmill that holds up SS.. LOL
Like in that commercial, where the guy is sitting at his computer,
with guinea pigs/gerbils in a row...
Hi Ryan,
Thank you for the post, and the information.
I chose not to put it on, and just leave the new filter by itself.
So as to not restrict airflow, it does seem my engine runs better without the prefilter.
Good night,
CJ
Hi Guys,
The only thing I did today to my M1009, was to install a new air filter.
I noticed how dirty the old one was, so out it went.
By the way, the air filter already on it, had a ring of what looked like
what they make scrubbing sponges from, already around it, on the outside of it.
Any...
Ditto,
I did the Doghead mod too, and have not had a problem with my starter sticking on since.
And I do have peace of mind now, that I do not have to worry about that happening again.
Good job Doghead for coming up with it.. But how did you figure it out in the first place?
(I do not...
Patriot,
I am with you, I read the TM too. And the Doghead mod is not part of it.
So I prefer to keep my M1009 stock.
But I did the mod anyway, so it would stop frying starters..
It had worked so far..
But when I did it, I did make it reversable.. Just in case I ever needed to undo it...
Hello Southwest,
You could tell her it is tornado proof, so it would make a great storm shelter..
Plenty of square footage to have your mother in-law visit and still be far away from her,
just give her some space in an out of the way corner when she visits, LOL..
And if you do not like nosy...
Patracy,
No, after I win the lottery and I become an instant multi-millionaire..
Then at some point, I would either get the M1009 completely and professionally restored.
To 110% stock condition.
Good day,
CJ
