Now just make sure to re tap the threads on the screw holes. Get the old rust out and use a bit of anti-sieze on the new scews. Have fun lining up the holes.
Been fixing frost plugs fuel problems and wiring. Added to the herd a donor ( 52 w/w found on e-flay) that upon closer inspection turns out to be a "simple" restoration with all the spares I have. Will post once I get some better pics check out the threads I have.
about time on the brakes!
Just kidding the really are a PITA to do and with 3 other trucks I am not looking forward to it this next summer I did purchased the kit to make brake lines.
Now rebuilding the winch good luck and post lots of pictures
Found out that the fuel pump is working quite well today seems the gas gauge reads 1/4 full an THE GAS TANK IS EMPTY!!!!
Put some 90 octane in the tank and refilled the gas lines by use of a suction pump and the boat just started up!
Moral check the gas lines before replacing the fuel...
Like al things it is eaiser to pull apart than to put back together. The generator weighing all of 20+ pounds and a bad back would have made for some creative wording last night. Luckly I remembered that I had a old fence puller and with some creative rigging was able to remount the generator...
The new frost plugs are in and the rust is cleaned out from beneath the starter, generator and Distributor. Put the slave cable in and recoated the regulator to starter wire as it was down to a few specks of insulation. Primered white and repainted.
Now for the bad news found out my one side...
I unstuck one of mine by over tightening then losening it up. Air impact is the best tool before heat. The other thing is getting into a good argument with the wife before working on the truck seems that stress strength will overcome any stuck bolt!
The other trick is using a punch to twist it...
Got her off and as soon as I can get to a read computer instead of tis silly I pad I will post them. It looked like a dirt farm back there behind the rotten plug and took several very careful diggs to get the crud out . Tomorrow I will Flush the space again as well as prep for the new plugs...
The plugs are more rotten than that congressman from new York ! I can get to the bottom nut ok it's the top one that is being a pain on he starter the other good thing about doing this now is that I can now put back in the slave cables that was removed in the past. From what it looks like the...
Well getting to the second plug is a pita I have to remove the starter and in place you only get about 1/6 th a turn each time on the top nut. I guess going slow is better than a frozen nut
Thank you for the tips. As you can see by the enclosed photo a couple more 37's "strayed" into my yard this past summer and so I will be becomming quite familar with the truck. My lovely wife though understanding says I need a bigger shed.
