The rear axles on a deuce are mounted on what's called a bogie and trunion assembly. The two axles are mounted on an inverted leaf spring set with the middle of the leaf springs mounted on a pivoting trunion between the axles and the ends of the leaf springs rest on top of the axles with torque...
I was reading the specs on them and marveling at the current draw numbers. On a 24v system, 1.0 amp draw on low beam and the high beam current draw is 1.8 amp! That's amazing considering the amount of light you get from these! I want a pair so bad I can taste it! I remember how inadequate the...
Exactly why I have the original steering wheel chain locked on the wheel in my deuce and a matching padlock on the step box door! Not to mention the hidden cutout for the main power switch.
I was about to ask when they named a lake after my sister-in-law, but I looked again and see it's "Elephant Butte". I read it wrong the first time! rofl
You've got several options for parts for your deuce:
C&C Equipment, Boyce Equipment Axles and Military Parts, and of course Military vehicles for sale, surplus military vehicles for sale to name a few.[thumbzup]
Ok, I'm a little confused. You're adding that little sleeper, that part I get, but are you gonna shorten the bed, lenghen the frame, or go for the long bob with one rear axle and M105 bed behind the sleeper?
Looks pretty good, but you could probably stand to lower the muffler about 6 or 8 inches. I have a muffler on my deuce and it really makes a huge difference in the decibel level, but the whistler comes through loud and clear. At idle, the exhaust note is not much louder than a whisper. Also, the...
Interesting concept, but I get the feeling the modifications to the shelter box would be a nightmare. In my opinion, it would be much cooler if you could either get an M36 chassis to drop your crew cab onto and mount a standard M109 shelter box, or do a chassis stretch by joining 2 sections of...
Congrats on your new aquisition! There's something about a deuce that puts a smile on your face weather you're standing outside just looking at it or out driving her down the road. You'll also notice the difference in the looks you get after a little while and you can tell who the vets are with...
Congrats on your aquisition, and welcome to the Green Iron Laughing Academy! A winch and a hard top definately aren't deal breakers for what you paid for that combo! You have an awsome foundation to build on! Some of us would call it a "Do it yourself bobber kit", and the purists all cringe and...
Well Mike, since the original deuce rear end setup is what's called a trunion/bogie assembly. The 2 rear axles are joined together front to rear with leaf springs on top and torque rods on the bottom. the leaf springs are hard mounted to a spindle called the trunion with roller bearings and an...
Welcome to the Green Disease! As a fellow bobber fan, there's tons of info and pics to be found here, youtube and through the regular net search engines. There's a plethora of different ways to do a bobber, as I've found in my research for the past couple years. If you study and compare, you'll...
My favorite method is to put the water contaminated oil into 3-Litre soda bottles and prop them upside-down in the sun for a couple days. When the water is all settled at the bottom, I crack the cap loose, and carefully loosten the cap enough to let the water run out as I gently squeeze the...
DH said it first. Good catch! I forgot to mention that 2 or 3 quarts of ATF makes for good IP lube, but ya don't wanna get dipped because of the red dye in the ATF.
