update....
I made my first longer night time drive since the upgrade on saturday and I can't say enough good about this setup...wow especially the high beams.
I pulled down 4 trees in my parents’ yard this past weekend, which gave me an excuse to use the winch a little and practice rigging for different situations. On most of the pulls I used a double line with a doubled 1/2" sling for my attachment to the trees (generally 12' or so off the ground)...
Rattlehead, do you have a personel heater? Mine was installed incorrectly when I got the truck and was effectively bypassing the t-stat. I can tell a noticeable difference in how long it takes to reach operating temps now.
It wouldn’t surprise me to find that the extensions are actually stronger than an equivalent length of frame(assuming all the hardware is there and properly torqued).
RE: more on this
just think of the loads that would be put on a bike's drive train by trying to make the mass of a 5 ton wheel start and stop... come to think of it it might make wheelies easier
I think my headlights are higher than yours Clint. Mine (1966) started out low and I flipped them when I did the winch install.
Mine has both horns, but the electric one has not worked since I bought it.
I don't know that you "need" it, but here are my reasons....
This transfers all the load (except what the relay needs to close) from my crusty/scaryfront harness (the passenger side where I tied in wasn't bad, but the driver's side was rough) to the one I made up (which is all at least 12AWG)...
