    snow chains?

I have a buddy who drives I-80 over Donner summit quite often He literally brings back dozens of chains, half of which are big truck chains, that fall off and stay on the side of the road. a lot in really good shape, probably just not secured correctly...... He says they're all over, but, look...

    Location for Pyro installation

do people really run them that tight, for, that long? Overheating the exhaust does damage with time, I know. Just speaking for myself, I don't run my engine on a hard pull, full throttle, for any length of time. If it's a long hill, you just gear down, lighten up on the fuel, and, enjoy the...

    Location for Pyro installation

I don't quite understand the necessity of the pre-turbo install. I know the temps are higher there, maybe somewhat more accurate in relation to the exhaust valves, etc. But, as long as you knew max temp for the location, why would it matter? IE: If 1200 deg F is max, pre-turbo, and, that...

m35 with rear winch ever been done ?

RE: Re: RE: m35 with rear winch ever been done ? when I put my crane on a deuce, I mounted a hydraulic pump to the cross member just behind the transfer case, and using a rear facing pto, drive it. I still have the forward pto for a winch, or, whatever. there is also a rear facing splined shaft...

    Jump Starting Question

I wasn't really referring to charging, more, I was referring to "boosting" or "jumping" the vehicle to start. I'd think you'd want the amperage up a ways to do that? Just clarifying/wondering Henry

    Jump Starting Question

has anyone ever tried jumping with a portable arc welder? Mine is 24V D.C. I know it'll put out a bunch of amps........... I wonder if it'd work direct? Henry

how much snow have you driven through

snow can be so subjective.......... Here in northern CA, we get "Sierra Cement"......very "thick", crusty, heavy. It can be hard to get your tires to "dig down" to dirt. You need weight, and maybe chains. When you spin at all, it turns to ice pack...... And, If you're runing over pavement, it...

    free F-600

Hi William, I was out of town a few days, sorry for the delayed response. I'd say little chance of driving it there....... A new carb would be totally necessary, and, since I "dented" the roof and broke both windshields........ And, commercial cops don't have much of a sense of humor regarding...

    Welding for dummies

I might differ, although I'm admittedly not so smart, that gas welding isn't welding. I know I've made the puddle of molten metal, and, added more, to joing plates...... One think I'm working on, with some measured sucess, is, "forge welding". Now, that's an art.....and, the strongest, if done...

ouch.......... I'd gladly share if you want to stop on in........ dc3coyote: Pics? I do have some posted of the crane on the photo section here......."Henry's crane project", and, I think a couple of other folders of mine have some pics of it in use........ I sure hate to have to pay someone...

    free F-600

Hi Guys, I have the rest of the truck I took my crane for the deuce conversion off of. It runs, bad carb, two speed rear, air brakes decent tires, very dented cab, cab-over, 5 speed, tires ok, lots of good stuff. If anyone can use it for parts, come on over. It will drive, but, not legally.......
