I am not going to make it this year My old girl gave me on **** of a hiccup and well I do not have brakes to the rear axles. If time permits I will swing by and say hello to everyone but it is a long trip and I was going to use the time to get my M211 rolling again. Is this a yearly event? If so...
I have a top shop Manager who owes me a couple favors. So if you need that top repaired I am sure he would gladly take a look at it for me. And make a few patterns while he was at it ;-) then we would be set for at least a few years if we needed parts and pieces of tops made.
FOR ANYTHING Differential or gear oil related you can use GM gasket maker sealant GM part# 1052943
This stuff is great I use it on almost all my differential rebuilds for years with out problems. Works on all aluminum oil pans as well.
Does not work with fuels or anything with high pressure...
Ok what page are you on in the manual. I am a GM tranny guy so I have lots of odd ball tools so I may have something that works and could ship to you for use. I am pulling the cab apart after I get my brakes in order so it may be a month or so. If you do not mind waiting I am sure I can find...
What are you adjusting I can look on my truck and I may have something in my tool box that might work. It looks like the throttle to transmission linkage but I want to be sure before I tear into my truck and check what I have :)
SO I have inherited a mess of an M211 and have a few of the problems fixed but the one that is giving me the most trouble is the Power steering Mod the previous owner has performed. To make a long story short it appears that the original stearing box was removed and the shaft cut off and welded...
Well I am waiting for one more source to look for the joints but in the mean time here is what the steering on my old girl looks like and well I need to rework this to make it a little safer before she does any major road trips. If anyone happens to recognize this as a poorly installed kit let...
Welcome to the PNW ;-) My girl is still not driving much I am having brake and steering issues which I feel are unsafe for road use for the time being. The work is coming along nicely but it is still a project. I am not sure what the previous owner was thinking with the steering mod he installed...
I would defiantly remove the drive shafts to replace u joints. They are usually press fit with snap rings. I have a tool that attaches to an air hammer for removal and then use a press to reinstall.
Welcome to the world of Steel Soldiers those of us with the M211's have been working hard with USMC 00-08 and have a good list of parts going be sure to add any parts you find and enjoy your truck :)
The XM211 was from what I can gather the prototype designation of the M211
Just picked up a...
Anyone rebuilt the steering in their M211 I am wondering if there is an upgraded tie rod end I can press into my Drag link from the pitman arm to the steering knuckle.
Yes I can find the original shaft online but none that have a grease fitting on them would prefer to only do this portion of...
Yep thats the bearings and seal I will be trying to modify a newer GMC steering shaft bearing for bearing at the top of the steering shaft just below the wheel I will let you know how that goes.
OK having problems adding part numbers to the list. SO far the Axle bearing nuts and seals all cross to the numbers already listed so no need to add those parts. However I did find some parts not on the list for the steering gear box.
Steering gear box bearings for the worm shaft
