The specs you are reading is the government recommended operation. They top out at around 75. BUT with that being said, they will not run that fast for long. High rpm's are the death of these engines. A turbo will not have any bearing on top speed, just get there quicker. Keep the tires under...
Hello, and welcome to the site. You have quite a bit of reading ahead of you. M1009's are easily capable of more than 55mph. The gear ratio is 3:08. Speeds of 65-70 are possible, especially with slightly larger than stock tires. I usually drive 60-65 on the highway. As for turbo kits, I believe...
My truck is an A1, and was upgraded to ABS. There is a decal on the driver's side windshield, and there was a tag zip-tied to the passenger side grab handle. When any truck has been sitting for a long time, there is bound to be some rust on the drums. When finally driven, whe the brakes are...
Hello, and welcome to the site. Read all of the TM's you can, and soak up every bit of knowledge you can from the threads. Some of it may not make sense until you get the truck.
The correct shutdown sequence is to shut off the ignition switch first, (bottom switch) then turn the battery switch to off (top switch). If the battery switch is turtned off first (incorrect shutdown), it can fry the control box.
Methanol is the fuel (alcohol). Very popular in high-end race cars. Usually alcohol injected, as in World of Outlaws Sprint cars, or drag racing. Could also be blown alky injected (a step down from nitro-methane). With the high cylinder pressures and rpms, it is common for some of the methanol...
That looks great. Excellent fab work. How close together are the tires? if you load the trailer down and the tires squat any, you don't want them touching each other. Could wreak havoc on the sidewalls.
It is difficult if not impossible (unless you can obtain the complete maintenance records) to verify mileage. Most times, if the speedo (or any other gauge in the cluster) had a malfunction, the entire cluster was replaced. To get a more accurate guess on miles, look at the typical wear areas...

This was the song to which I was referring. And once again, back to the thread.....
Yes it is STP. It was mistakenly labeled as Nirvana. BTW...
Both Dave's place and Air Force Museum sound great to me. Also anything Quaker Stake & Lube. Last year, I was out for a drive and stopped at Steak & Shake in Englewood where they were having a cruise-in. There was quite the crowd around my truck.
A big piece of cardboard works in a pinch when a creeper is not available. My grease guns (one Lincoln electric and one manual) are both pistol grip types. The lever actuated ones are too much of a PITA.
Yes that photographer is lucky to be alive. The Nirvana song "Half The Man I used To Be" comes to mind. Winching with large vehicles definitely requires a spotter and everyone cleared out of the danger zone. The same high level of caution and awareness should also be exercised when using snatch...
I put a spin-on oil filter on my 932A1. 250 Cummins. The adapter is Baldwin OB-1368. Several filters fit this adapter. Oil filter I use is Baldwin B-96. A quick internet search will reveal several sources for both. The adapter comes with 2 different O-rings. Be sure to follow the instructions...
