Put it in a metal pump can. Give it a shake and squirt it. Works better than Kriol. there is a thread somewhere on here. Some "Institute of Technology" did tests, measuring torque required to remove rusty fasteners, and this was far and away the best. Some things don't work for everyone.
I soak my straps then wash with jet nozzle on a garden hose. Pressure washer spreads out the strands too much. Then drive over them w/1009 to wring out and hang dry.
When the ropes/straps are a muddy mess, secure one end and toss them in the pond. Let 'em soak. Much easier to clean if they are not allowed to dry. That Haspin mud is so easy to clean compared to Durhamtown mud (Ga Rally).
Reading the TM will help familiarize him with the operation and upkeep of said vehicle. Reading (searching) threads will help with problems and issues associated with ownership. There is NO such thing as too much info.
It hangs pretty far behind the tailgate. That's alot of leverage on the mount bar. That looks like the weakest point. To get far more capacity, I bet one could remove the tailgate (easily), and shorten the bar. When loaded, put tailgate back on. Maybe even be able to have 2 interchangeable bars...
The max for blocks is generally 4 inches. Any more than that and you are asking for big problems. Puts too much leverage on the u-bolts and center pins. Blocks will not affect the load rating, but one MUST remember that the center of gravity will be substantially higher and said vehicle must be...
