Don't think I took any pics of the carnage inside. Mine was a broken roller. It would lock up when turned one direction, and when freed up it had a LOT of play in the steering. As in unsafe to drive.
I'd also check the steering box for a bent shaft, mine was tweaked some and caused a little...
I was thinking about it after we talked the other day. I'd go with Will on this one, thinking it is something whistling in the intake or exhaust. Maybe something loose or maybe even something stuck in the intake filter housing? Wouldn't hurt to pull the intake off the turbo and check for play...
I've noticed Gimp's LDS in the wrecker had a different sound, would guess because of cam differences.
Then again, his LDS dropside sounds pretty close to a standard D LDT.
I would recommend trailering that one. You would have to chain up the spring on the broken side, chain the other half of the axle up, remove the outer broken part, plug the brake line, and remove the rear driveshaft. And the chain between the axle and frame would have to be done right, if it...
What is broke on the axle? If tires can roll, pull axle shafts and rear drive shaft. You can't remove the axle, it is hooked to the other axle and shares the suspension. Other option is to chain it up to the frame.
Dang, where is the howitzer feature on my M108? I wanna shoot something!
I will have to look after work, but I think the only plate different from a standard gasser is the wieght/serial number plate.
Geez, you tell us all that, and that it's six colors, and no pics? Where's that ban button....
Sounds like it will be a changed truck, and that the blue M59 parts are going to a good home.
