Hey Bjorn, I remembered you wrote an article for MV Magazine about a turbo conversion. Later this week I'm planning on removing all the old N/A exhaust and putting the turbo and new clean air kit on. Was there anything difficult about the install or anything you ran into? Looks like I might need...
We were working on pulling the fuel line off one injector and run the engine on 2 cyls to watch the flow but the pos. end on the starter solenoid broke in half so I have to fix that first. On another tractor forum someone mentioned a housing pressure regulator that could be clogged on the IP...
Hey Jeff. The engine does have a start/stop selenoid built into the IP and you can hear it click when you turn the key on. With the lines pulled off the injectors and cranking the engine, a small ammount of fuel squirts out of the lines at equal ammounts. The tractor starts up for a few seconds...
Hey guy's, got a generic diesel engine question for yall. 3 cyl. John Deere 1020 engine refuses to run longer than a few seconds. Starts up great and slowly dies out. It sounds to me like it's running out of fuel pressure to where the injectors quit firing. The IP was rebuilt under 50 hours ago...
Great, thanks! Do you think the 2 thermocouples is worth the extra cost? I'd figure if you had head problems or something u may as well pull both since it's about the same work as pulling one. I really like the two needle setup but am alway's out for saving a little money. I'm not turning up the...
I am putting the turbo and exhaust on soon. I need to figure out what my future plans for a pyrometer will be before I put the turbo on. I saw on the site a while back a gauge that had 2 needles and the user put a thermocouple on both sides of the plenum so each sensor read the front and rear 3...
We'll pressure clean it and run it on the highway a little to get it warmed up and see if the leak shows up. I'd think the head gasket won't leak much until it get's hot. My buddy recommended we pull the valve cover gaskets and check the torque on the bolts before deciding to do the head work...
What does the steaming process involve? Sounds like injecting parts of the engine with steam to find leaks, almost like soap on a tires to find holes. Sounds like it could be worth it. Would be nice to do the heads if they are leaking and get them shaved and such it's just more work and money...
Turbo too, one in very very good shape off an 89 rebuild motor in one of his garages right now. Spins very free. I'm a little worried about this head gasket thing and was hoping to enjoy the truck a little before working on it alot. But that's half the fun.

I'll check it out the next time I go over again. I didn't see any oil leaking from the head gasket from the top but the compressor and oil filters and such block alot of it. I was alway's told if u buy a deuce you'll do the head gaskets. Would be a good time to get the valves cleaned up and such...
Here are some pics of things that concerned me including the dried oil from the head gasket on the passangers side that I posted about a little while ago. Also an apparent leak from the pan gasket. The exhaust is completely rusted through in several places but it's getting replaced with NOS...
The bed is almost completly rust free and very straight. I havn't seen alot of straight tail gates. It's missing a few bows and I havn't unfolded the cover yet but I hear it has a small tear that I can problably fix.

Hey guy's, a few of you know I finally purchased a '68 M35A2. I have yet to post pictures but I just went over there and took some as well as run it some more and drive it around to see if I can find any leaks. I'm still waiting on the exhaust to get here for the turbo conversion and I need new...
Hey guy's. I've seen and heard alot about the quick-drain valves to replace the petcocks on the air tanks. Is it really a bad thing to have the air pressure sitting in the tanks when the truck isn't being used? A friend of mine said it's bad for the brakes to have the pressure on them all of the...
Hey guy's, was over at the farm looking at my deuce I bought while I wait on exhaust for the turbo conversion. The air filter side of the motor has dried up oil from the head gasket down on the front 2-3 cylinders. There isn't a thick layer but it's there. Is that something I should be concerned...
Thanks Ken, I PM'ed him yesterday and am waiting to see what he can still get ahold of. I've called the major parts distributer's and they have been out of them for a long time. What should one cost? I think what I'm going to do is leave the truck N/A at my house for a while until I get all the...
Put the deposit down on the '68 M35A2 yesterday and will pick it up and finish paying it off in a few days. It has a winch, spring ride drivers seat, soft top, air shift TC, and cargo cover (missing 2 bows). The only rust is on the bottom of the window frames and it's rusted through a little by...
Going to go through the truck with a fine toothed comb and make sure the winch and all is working before I make the final decision. For the turbo conversion, would it be best to change the timing or just leave it how it is? If I leave it how it is what should I be careful of?
If I end up...
