Yeah now that I have restored the gear boxes, I beleive it would be a good idea to drop the rear drive shaft and save on turning those gears when towing. The shaft can be taken out altogether. Only remove the the Ubolts on the rear as it slips into the forward yoke and pull it free. Tape a...
I towed my M38 to hunting lease, 500 miles one way before I restored it. At the end of the season I towed it back home. Jeep had lock out hubs on front axle. Left the rear drive shaft connected all the time. Didn't seem to hurt a thing. I wouldn't drive more than 60 though. It does wear the...
It's great when our wives go with us and participate in this MV thing. I know and I appreciate it. We just got home from doing the 100 mile Red Ballin convoy. A 11 hour drive from home. She's in the bed now resting.
Hello Steve
Ken Smith here from Silsbee
Drove my M38 in Beaumont Crusin a couple times. I don't see many MV's on the road around here.
I know there must be more around though.
If they would all make themselves known we might could get our own car show and crusin going. Or maybe a rally and...
The pulley that has two different size grooves was used on vehicles with a govenor.
the M38 & M38A1 have two grooves, but are the same size for the generators purpose.
It is physically a large generator yet only rated at 25 amps. I talking about the factory setup.
I've been looking at Google Earth. The road from Watson Lake to Carmacks appears to be unpaved.
That's around 370 miles.
Are there any other unpaved roads on the convoy route.
How about this model generator.
Can it be configured to run some appliances in my home like the central air conditioner, water heater, and stove top element. I realize this stuff
pulls a lot of current especially when they are all on at the same time.
I wouldn’t run them all at the same time...
I don't really know for sure what the mpg's used is. I guess when it warms up I'll take it for a run and see how far I can go on a full tank and try to average 30-35 mph doing it.
But just for grins I'd say 10mph. We'll see.
Cat Man,
No, I'm sure that I won't be watching Oprah for four weeks or even one minute. I guess I am not as bold as I use to be when I was younger, But you are very encouraging. I can see you doing the 2009 convoy sense it probably came very close to your area.
What is the MV you are taking?
I realize this is an expensive outing and I would like to join the convoy too. But I keep thinking, Man!, that is a long way to haul an MV and back. then I think how many gas cans am I gonna have to bring to get me from one station to the next in Canada and Alaska.
Knowing my vehicle, If I...
