I had a couple of those captive nuts that were so rusted the bolts could not be undone and the nuts ended up spinning in their holders due to me trying to unscrew them. To replace the fender, it took about 2 hours to hacksaw through the bolts. No torch or power tools were available! Had to make...
BTW I think there is a mistake on the bendix. The way the wires are drawn, terminals 1 and 4 in the schematic should be the coil and terminals 2 and 3 should be the contactor. Does anyone else notice this?
RE: Re: RE: almost finished working on deuce
Was there no risk of getting stuck in the sand on the beach? I have avoided the tempation to take the deuce to padre island because if it ever got stuck, there would not be any way to recover it. (6000 LB shelter in the bed makes me nervous about...
RE: Whats Biggest guy to fit the drivers seat of a Mighty-Mi
haha good point. I sat in a jeep once. Would need to put a little lowrider steering wheel in to clear the gut.
These checks should help find the problem before you have to buy anything. Step 6 actually might be the likely thing, if I read your post correctly.
1. check for 24V constant on wire 2 of the bendix. Tests the lead from the battery.
2. check for 24 constant on wire 14 at the start relay. Tests...
That bottom end aint the right one for the PRC25 unless you have an adapter of some kind.
Steve haney has the antennas and goosenecks probably quite cheap.
A nick in the antenna of this type in meaningless from an operation standpoint. If it is annoying, you can put some heatshrink over it.

I was shown the metal ones when I was at Clarke Truck Parts a couple years ago. They explained why they were better, can't remember now but it made sense at the time. About the triangular lever breaking off of the plastic motors, don't worry about that, if you grip the broken shard hard enough...
This is going to be a great adventure! take lots of pictures and post as you go! and ditto on the CB radio and the biggest antenna you can put on. In some places the cellphone might not work so well. Also a GPS an compass is handy, and a spare flashlight? and a couple blankets and thermal undies...
RE: Re: 12 volts from a 24 volt system
Here's what I did using a battery equalizer and it works perfectly.

So far Mangus idea and BFR drawing seem like alot of results for the least work and cost. With a shelter in the bed, anything sticking of the tailgate would have to be on the outside, that is aft of the gate. The radius of the big tire is about 22" or 24"?. So, the original spare tire winch...
That above is what I'd call "ignunt". Funny, but ignunt. If really want to be silly with a 2.5 ton or larger truck, are there not some smallish diameter jet engines that would fit in the space between the rear axle and the bottom of the bed? 13500 lb. thrust + M35 = 1G acceleration. (until it...
