I was a platoon leader in the 104th Trans Co. when we got the M915's brand new and they would do over 100 MPH not a measley 80. In USAEUR they even blocked off the top two gears with a lock because drivers were out on the Autobahn beating most of the other trucks down the strasse. We did have...
I think my Son Noah is looking sad seeing the dolly go for a trip without him since he helped me alot in building it. See this link:

I pulled a stalled semi truck and trailer with my CJ3B as a teenager the driver could not belive it as he was stuck on the side of the road in a bad place and he just needed to move a couple hundred yards to be safer.
I am quite sure all my emails will resolve the Lube trailer issue as it was...
RE: modeler
Joe:
I am doing great my wife and youngest daughter are here with me for a few weeks and I am anxiously awaiting the results of the Colonel promotion board. That will have a great deal to do with my retirement date and whether I continue on active duty or pop smoke and get to work...
Adam:
I am glad you made it up and back safely just don't try to pick up the semi with the Jeep I bet it could haul it in low range but the speed would be snail paced
Lube Trailer still 7,000 miles from me
Wow what a great bunch of folks on this site.
Adam 10,000 thanks for the great help you provided for me. I am sure that GL is in error on the DML issue on these since the DLA site clearly shows it as a Code "A" no demil required so here are the...
RE: modeler
I like them all and would love to build some too perhaps after retirement. I usually took them out side as a kid and shot them with a BB gun or 22 and use gasoline to simulate the napalm that was on TV everyday from the Viet Nam war coverage in the 60's. My Son built some...
Very Cool recovery story and pictures. I love the old Oshgosh trucks they are tough as nails. Was that tire shredded when you got it of did it hit the ground while towing? Do all of the towing accesories work? Are you going to use it to plow commercially? What a neet truck.
RE: M756A1
The policy on Stay Behind Equipment was this:
No vehicle with armor applied would leave the theather.
Since many of the Guard units that came over to the war with dueces and five tons they scrambled to armor them because of the threat to travel off of the FOB. In the early stages...
RE: Shift Nob for a Deuce!
Those are Five ton wheels in the bed your duece should have six lugs not ten If you are not going to use them I know I could use them for the five tons I have or someone else here would like them. I have extra duece wheels and tires from some of the dollys. I...
Thanks for posting them are they similar to the Overson ones or more like the old style Milemarker ones. I am going to put them on my duece and I may go whole hog if I make Colonel and buy the front and front rear as well. If doing the rear I understand you only need one side done. Nice job...
Just take it easy going with it the stress in the frame is going to be high with that lever. Any panic stops with this or fishtailing will really do a number on your dodge. Other than those cautions it looks fine and you should be able to get them home with that rig. If you are not in a time...
Wow that would make getting to rallys very quick and easy but it would surely bring back the fuel price issue as well, I think it burns Jet A and at a pretty quick rate too. Sounds like the trailer would be a good find as well with some fresh tires and a go over if it can haul a jet just think...
I have four carosells of slides from the making of the Alaska Highway during WW II my uncle was an engineer on the project the views are just breathtaking. I know much of that is in Canada but I am still trying to find someone in Alaska that would like copies of them for historical purposes...
M105 Towing
I have towed my M105A2 with a Chevy Astrovan, my old Jeep Cherokee and most recently with my diesel suburban. I have had it longer than any of my other MV's and since it was used with my little trucks I fabbed this to make it work. I have had it full of compost and it topped the...
Thanks I am really excited about the M818 and getting to run the Cummins all the way home. I think my M 52 was running too rich when I hauled the M 127 with it and I will be adjusting that fuel flow when I get home in March. Those figures show sort of what I expected as the diesels have the...
RE: It
Welcome to the site guys and to the East Coast Steel Soldiers clan. Make it to Aberdeen in may even if you have to drive a civilian vehicle it is a great place to meet a lot of the folks on this site. My first prime mover was a duece and it remains one of my favorites
