what kind of chemical stripper did you use on the truck?

mileage doesn't really mean much as the original owner(uncle sam) did interesting things w/ the gauges during overhauls.

while I have no idea if it will be enough juice for your application this is what I would do to get 24 volts out of 4 12volt batteries.

Even though I am a glutton for punishment I would not buy that as a "deuce", but I would seriously look at it as a possible parts source depending on what engine/tranny are in it.
