Jacking up Deuce front end (from the frame)

I heard in the Caster Adjustment thread that flipping the perches 180 degrees may not be the best way to go. Might want to check it out, they get into the angles and geometry of the front end. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?83547-Changing-caster-angle-solved-problems-with-G-177-tires

Jacking up Deuce front end (from the frame)

I think I'll be jacking the springs up, removing the perch and lowering the spring onto a piece of wood. It will take an extra day doing it one side at a time but that's not a big deal I guess.

Jacking up Deuce front end (from the frame)

The other issue I have though, I need to bring my perches to the Bridgeport at my work to get them milled. This means leaving at least one side at a time jacked up for a day in my driveway. Would it hurt anything to leave a 2x4 between the spring and housing in place of the perch?

That's a great idea, never thought of just lifting the spring as opposed to lowering the housing!

Jacking up Deuce front end (from the frame)

Just about to do my caster adjustment that is needed for the G177 swap but I've hit a bit of a road block. I need to jack the truck up high enough to allow the axle housing to hang so I can remove my spring perches. Problem is I can't seem to find an affordable pair of jack stands big enough...

Painting my m35a2 think the color is off.

Mine looked brighter after the first couple hours, but then flattened out nicely. All 3 colors Behr house paint.

Changing caster angle solved problems with G-177 tires

Wasn't sure if that was going to leave me enough room to work but yeah that makes sense!

I had the same issue, primary fuel filter was clogged.

Changing caster angle solved problems with G-177 tires

Ready to do this in the next couple weeks, just need to figure out how I'm going to jack the frame up high enough to hang the axle.

Upgraded deuce's tires to Goodyear G177 11.00R20s (dualed)

Thanks for the excellent report! I can wait a couple more days, not in a huge hurry to pay for the mounting. I just loaded the tires in the back of the truck yesterday so I'm ready to go anytime.

Upgraded deuce's tires to Goodyear G177 11.00R20s (dualed)

Thanks man! Looks like they have 5/16 as well if 3/8 or 1/2 wouldn't leave enough threads on the studs. Also to keep this thread on the subject of the caster angle I am currently sourcing a pair of spring perches so I can mill those down and keep my stock set in case I ever decide to go back.

Valence I am about to order the spacer plates, if you had to do it over again would you have ordered the thicker plates? There is a pretty significant cost difference but if the thicker ones will be better in the long run I would rather just get them now.

Still hoping to find out if I can do this mod before I have the tires installed, will there be negative handling effects on the stock 9.00s?
