Anyone from the NE Ohio area (Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Ashtabula, Sandusky, Youngstown/Warren, Mansfield)?
I'm looking for some SS members I can connect with.
Dave
Thanks guys, nice to know there are plenty around. I was having a hard time finding the kits in catalogs for places like Eastern Surplus, Colemans, etc...
Kenny...Thanks! I was thinking about getting a gravity sand blaster attaching it to an air compressor and going for it. Do you have to use a special kind of sand or can you use bagged sand from the Home Depot?
I went ahead and tried the Krylon Ultra flat black. For me, it worked out a lot better as opposed to the Gillespie flat black. I pressure washed the truck after waiting few days and the pressure wash took much of the shine off the 383 green paint.
I found this out by accident, but pressure washing the painted areas with just water will dull the paint and give a more uniform look. So, after waiting about a week for the paint to set, I then pressure wash it. Not bad.
For my deuce, I want to get a bow & tarp kit. Will I need the wooden side rails to hold the bow supports or can I get bow supports that actually fit into the bed? BTW, bow & tarp kits are really hard to find.
Thanks! OFD
Thanks guys for the advice. I ended up using the Krylon Ultra Flat and the results are much better. Now if I can stop causing the paint to drape after I spray it.
I am painting the outside of my deuce, and the flat black paint I use (Rustoleum) has shiny blotches in the black area I test painted. I first tried Gillespie (from Rapco) flat black and it came out a little shiny. The original black paint on my truck looks great...no shine at all. Can...
Once I get the top put on and the seats reinstalled, I want to get the truck to Yankee Lake. I have a couple of friends w/ Jeep Wranglers that I want to outdo, LOL!
