Unloading My M3A1 Stuart Tank At A Local Show

wow - very cool and very good job on the sticks(?) with the tables and boxes! I think the gal at the one table was amazed and was possibly waiting for some inevitable damage? Looks like they are on their way to a good show. Nice looking piece of equipment as well. Dave

    Halftrack build

I don't have a need, but what a great unique service to know about. I had no idea that such a thing could be contracted at what seems like a good price (remember - I have never looked into this) for a "custom job". Very cool.

HEMTT M984E1 Wrecker on the mend

Hey Flat Black ! Thanks for putting up that video - very cool. I have seen some of the offroad challenge type races with the 8x8's etc. in europe, but I had not seen the "oval track" racing. Holy **** - checking out the smoke/steam (did you say water cooled?) pouring out of the lead truck's...

HEMTT M984E1 Wrecker on the mend

Thanks CW, You are my new bestest friend!! (Don't get too excited - anybody who calls me "young" is my new best friend!). HA! Dave.

HEMTT M984E1 Wrecker on the mend

Thanks, Bob That is kind of the goal that I am hoping for. The other is that one of these years the MVPA might have a national show in Michigan and I thought it might be cool to bring the prototype 5-ton HMTT that TACOM built circa 1975 and this production HEMTT both to the show. Hey - all...

HEMTT M984E1 Wrecker on the mend

I can't remember what he put in that hotrod Pete - do they make auto's that can take the V12's, etc.? or do you have to stick with the stick (HA - I'm so clever!) when you put that much torque in front. I knew a guy who raced a cab over semi on the dragstrip. It had a twin turbo cummins all...

HEMTT M984E1 Wrecker on the mend

Way Cool, Gary! Got to love the Civy tractors, etc. - No such thing as too much chrome - unless you are following one at night and your headlights keep blinding yourself!!!!! What is between the seats of that Cab Over Pete?? Have you seen that Hot Rod that Jay Leno bought off the builder -...

HEMTT M984E1 Wrecker on the mend

Hey Ord22, Nope, no problem. No news. A few more parts to get - the little guys are the hardest sometimes. This all has to happen between work and keeping things screwed together around here. Ran some power (100 amp service) from the Model Train Barn (200 amp service) to the Truck/Trailer...

HEMTT Wrecker has a (PLS) Trailer!

Thanks Ord22 - had a little bit of luck on this one. I think in the end it was worth the shipping costs with how good condition it is in. I think that I am probably done with the auction aquisitions for a while now so I can put attention to the wrecker. Might be nice if there was something to...

HEMTT Wrecker has a (PLS) Trailer!

I think so - M1075 can say for sure - I think you need to load body x onto PLS truck and then hitch truck to PLS trailer and uload/slide body x onto trailer. I guess you could then unhitch and load up body #2 and hitch back up and hit the road!

HEMTT Wrecker has a (PLS) Trailer!

Wow M1075 - I have seen your avatar around but I must be way out of the loop - I had no idea that you had one of those beauties!!! Here all these years I thought that 8x8's were kind of the king of the "road driveable" off road trucks - WRONG! There sure is a lot of flexibility and...

HEMTT Wrecker has a (PLS) Trailer!

Hey Guys - Thanks for the ideas and pictures - that dump module is cool! Unfortunately, I do this for play and the equipment that I have is the equipment that I have. Which means that I really have no way to load/unload the flatrack (especially with a load on it) or the dump module. The...

    New armor arrived

So - the easiest way to start shipping armor in over here is to just have a railroad spur run to my backyard.........cool - will save all of the road permits!

HEMTT Wrecker has a (PLS) Trailer!

Thanks Guys. This one I put straight into the barn to try to keep it from rusting needlessly in Michigan's unpredictably changing weather (hot/cold/humid/dry - all in the same day!) until I can get some of the nicks and scratches touched back up.

HEMTT Wrecker has a (PLS) Trailer!

Yea! Got a call that the Trucker with his lowboy trailer would be at my place tonight to deliver the trailer that I got for the HEMTT Wrecker to pull in parades, etc.! Excellent surprise. Wasn't sure if he was going to end up arriving some time tomorrow and scrambling up my work schedule - so...

HEMTT M984E1 Wrecker on the mend

Absolutely, John. If I "lifted" a vehicle for over-the road hauling, I would almost be expecting at least some very inquisitive once-overs from our boys in blue. Lets be fair about it. You put one of these trucks in front of another (even 5-tons and deuces) and tool on down the highway -...

5 Ton Mirrors - What is this?

HMMMM - Me either. Will have to pay attention and learn something!

HEMTT M984E1 Wrecker on the mend

Hey Travis, You are probably right - I was wondering why they would have gone through all of the trouble of upgrading the new HEMTT's to air ride seats and the 4-point seat harnesses. The air ride seats - well OK, but the 4-point's would be a little bit of an extreme change if all was smooth...

HEMTT M984E1 Wrecker on the mend

Thanks feldmarshal, I have been told that they ride and drive pretty smooth for their size and weight capacity. Once I get the rear MHC going again, it could be quite the adventure! Dave
