RE: Re: RE: larc-v for sale via auction
Chris
I thought you said you were going to use it to ferry folks across the Potomac at rush hour for $2500.00 one way trips and that you already had a waiting list and landing rights?
Does anyone know the reliability of the gasoline engines on these. I found the manual on LOGSA and it says six horsepower but it has four cylnders and I have not started or run one of these although it looks like the engine on the old 5KW gensets. If you have run one can you let me know the...
Mike Mike Where are you?
I am not going to be home from Korea yet but I will buy a spot from Mike for Noah to drive the M1009 up and have fun he sure did last year and enjoyed selling some extra stuff too. The good thing is by then I will know if I am going to be retiring or be pinning on...
Adam:
Thanks for the great assistance you provided. I would certainly be out of luck being in Korea but I had put a minimum bid that I wanted to pay on it and won it. I figured that the gasoline driven air compressors are worth more than I paid for it and the recent rebuild gave me that idea...
Well we couldn't save the trencher in Temple with a group buy do you think we could raise $30K in a few days to save this one?
It looks to me like the guy selling this picked it up cheap somewere and is now trying to make Christmas spending money look what he wants for an M 911!
I think the...
Wow:
This tread has really taken off. I posted with an early view and having been out of the net for a while now see a much clearer picture of what you want to do and hope you get to accomplish your desires and stay active on Steel Soldiers so we can watch the progress.
I would say with a...
Seriously if you have an M123A1 available I am sure someone here would want to make it restored to it's legenday military pulling legacy.
Go find an old Kenworth Logging truck to do those mods to it and chances are it already has your Cummins and Roadranger on it as well as at least a...
I have to deal with our BO lights when I get home they have not worked since I got the truck and since it is a daily driver for my son Noah getting it roadworthy was the first concern for me on a tight schedule as I was headed off for Korea. I hope you find the answer and post it because I know...
RE: trailer
We hauled two dueces all the time on our M 872 40 foot flat beds so you should be OK. Just use good transit chain and quality loadbinders take a 3 pound sledge and beat on the chains when you are finished if anything comes loose it would have on the road so re tighten and hit again...
OK quick refresher for me since I can't go out and look under the hood (7,000 miles away) is my 1970 M35 A2:
an LD-465-1,1C-------62 lb/hr (min) 126HP
or a LDT-465-1C,1D--- 64 lb/hr (min) 130HP
or a LDS-465-1--------- 80 lb/hr 170-185HP
I know it does not screem and starts really well
Welcome to the Steel Soldiers site:
looks good especially that third one did it grow into a 6X6 M35?
Seriously the truck looks good is it running and licenced?
Of course it came with a lifetime membership in Steel Soldiers too I hope! Good to see all the young folks interested in the duece and other MV's
It's too bad most VFW's are not getting young folks in to join them as most of the ones I have stopped into see were all folks older than me and...
RE: Re: RE: Early Deuce Artillary Piece
I wish I had taken picture of the 105 howitzers the ROC Army towed with their M35 ROK specials They are the same gun we used in Korean war units
Go Wrecker man go I think you got yourself a convoy
My board just ended so if I did not get picked up I will be retired as of October 2008 if not the bird will tempt me to stay a bit longer
RE: seats...?
A crane to lift stuff into the bed
LED lights
Radio's
Invertor charger
Rifle racks
Family members along for the ride
Steel Soldier Rallies
All of these make it more effcient for me.
RE: deuce is home
Great looking truck and nice to have a deuce in farm country lots of places to drive and things to do with it. The color is darker because of the rain I think is the real dry color like the spots under the turn signals in the picture? That looks like standard faded CARC
Bjorn:
I always like to read your posts too and enjoyed your sailing links too. Is the 8 X 8 going to get most of the same mods or which ones would you rank order as a most benificial and another list as easy button jobs. Between you and Devilman I think the entire duece spectum is reached.
