Ahh the mud you can find in Iraq, still have some on my camera from a foot deep puddle at 40MPH while in the gunners turret.
Thanks for the pictures. Glad they got home safely
Power steering on the duece is worth more than you paid for it and is most likely the reason it had high milage,... going to Fort Chaffee.. I get the deuce with PS .. poor truck got to go every time I bet
In the many convoys I rode on in Iraq if we had a task vehicle with a flat tire the location drove the actions taken. In the south where most of the Iraqis are very friendly we stopped the convoy and fixed it while all the gun trucks pulled security and handed out water to the local farmers and...
I am bidding on one too they are so cool if I win it anyone in Virginia want to pick it up till I come home?
Otherwise I have to find my oldest son...somewhere in Canada now? and have him pick it up.
My last four GL #s are 4819
USAA is great for me and I have had them insure everything for almost 20 years. I have eight vehicles with them and in Maryland trailers are covered by the towing vehicle so any little bit more I pay is made up by the fact I have way more trailers than trucks. My daughter just asked me about...
RE: Re: RE: FMTV - you CAN own the predecessor
FMTV trucks are a disappointment to me the 900 series sans CTIS is one of the best trucks the Army owned.
RE: 6tl
I stand by my Exide batteries I bought at the PX they have a ten year guarantee and a jump start policy for a free jump during the warranty period. I do have solarizers on mine and 24 volt charger invertor on the duece. My boys were supposed to start all my trucks at least once a...
Nick:
I would be up there in a NY minute if I was home and not in Korea, such a short trip from Baltimore. I might bring the M52 though as I could fit a lot of girls in the M 127
RE: shipping
If I was not in Korea I would be headed to Chambersburg to drive it for you and buy your 818 and drive it home. Just the cost of being in the Army and not yet retired.
I hope you get it worked out;.
Got stopped on the BW Parkway with my duece and M-332 full of furniture I was moving back to home and he did not like me being on a car only road. After talking to him about it he let me go telling me to get off the next road and even gave me directions to I 95. Other than that nothing with...
I got a 24 volt battery from a battery warehouse. I do like the idea of two lawn batteries probably cheaper. The one I bought cost $80.00. It is up in the back of my duece right now waiting for me to come home and fire it up. I am going to mount it someway to make it easier to wheel around...
Jeff:
The higher ups even made some of the Soldiers remove the steel artwork on their grills even though it was getting rave reviews from all the other Soldiers and Iraqis as well. Sometimes I just don't understand the way they think. That is one reason I became an officer to add a little...
One from the Korean War
Here is one from the 1950's to contrast it with the one they made as well as a shot at the POL hauling done by the Korean Service Corps. They still work this hard today and I am proud to serve with them here.
I bet you could make some money making aftermarket mounts for current vehicles. The only thing you would have to do is cut them down a little because they are much wider than any truck out of the showroom except an H 1. I bought one of the older style in a DRMO sale years ago and cut the ends...
