RE: pictures
Absolutely Awesome!
I love deuces in the woods. I am so glad it went so well and thanks to all of you for posting pictures. Please keep them coming it make me feel at home:-)
Clint thanks for setting this up and for your service to the Steel Soldiers. I am headed up to Seoul...
I sure hope to wrap this Army life up some day, thing is if I make Colonel at the board next month I might have to stay a bit longer but my duece and M52 aren't going anywhere so when I finally do retire I plan on making the rounds. Sounds like I should be thinking about Biodiesel.... or find...
Looking for some pictures now that you are home safe and back in connectivity. Glad you all had a great rally and are home safe. Would love to attend one of these some day.
When I was there, 1988 through 1993 all the tanks from 1st Cav and 2AD were on motorpool road and we had 350 of them in the Cavalry alone. Fort Hood is a great place and any true Soldier loves it. Big enough to train, lots of MRW activities a PX and Commisary that stayed open hours longer...
Ah the hot dry desert heat that was really something I got used to I always carried frozen bottles of water though because by the time I got to the end of the exess yard there was almost no ice left in them. I am sure the FOB only truck will bring you some good times. A lot of NCO's I saw...
RE: Re: Sarge is a such a drama queen!
Sarge, glad you are OK, that sounds so like a motorcycle diehard scene. Make sure and watch for infection like previously mentioned.
My OTBC indoctination came on a 550 Suzuki in the Berkshire Mountains, it involved unexpected water on the road around a...
I agree with you WRMN I was inimately involved in uparmoring them in Iraq and Afghanistan and the old cabs were boxed up and shipped I thought they were going to Tracy Army Depot though. It seems they would get more by doing an FMS for them or selling them as cabs
Boy if you could pick up the beds in the GL auction you would be just about set. Very nice find and hope to see the pictures of the progress along the way. Not to bring it up again but Kenworth supplied all the initial PLS trucks too for the acceptance of the principle at Fort Hood in 1985
I like to safety wire the shear pin around the shaft through both ends with one wire so if it snaps I don't have to look in the mud for the cotter pins in the broken shear pin. My Son has broken mine more often than I have seems he picked up bad habits winching with his electric one on his...
Had an uncle killed on our farm in a tractor rollover when I was a kid. Place he had driven many times without incident, just a change in the ground ROPS and RAWLS are good things that came out of OSHA.
That one old Willys looks like one of our first conversions we put a 283 V8 in one and...
Welcome to the site and I hope you find the assistance you need. If I was home I would help. I don't know if my oldest Son could get free from work since the pickups are during the week at Chambersburg. Nice trucks hope you have room to keep them all. I like my M52 alot too and would only...
RE: update
Boy if the Army lets me out of Korea by then I would like to drive at least the M1009 down if not the duece. Is the driving off road in sand that would give a 900 20 duece trouble?
I have only used alumaseal for coolant leaks I always repair for leaks that go beyond the class two leak you described. If it is not visibly forming drops every couple of minutes or a faster leak the Army says to keep running it and check the fluids often.
Wow Great job thanks for what you do. Funny thing is I suggested to the Wheeled Vehicle PM in Iraq that we needed small remote cameras that could be easily replaced if damaged thinking a camera like an X10 Vanguard or other quality but relatively inexpensive for our gunners to use to aquire and...
Would those tires fit on a regular duece with dual rear axles? What would it take to run duel tires of that size on the rears? Truck looks great hope to see pictures of it from the rally too.
Not to correct you but in 1975 I was in the Coast Guard in New London and that radar was still emitting and turning. When we serviced any of the bouys on outer Long Island Sound our radios would all zap each time we were in the sweep of that radar. I still have to wonder if I got a lethal dose...
