Mine just had locking washers....
*shrug*
I just assembled everything lose at first, then tightened everything up starting at the winch and moving down to the brackets and bumper. Seemed to work out fine with no "spacers" needed.
The bumper mounts for the winch trucks have about a 1/4"...
Stay out of the line of fire on that thing when doing anything with the tire...approach from the sides and keep your hands/arms/heads away from the face of that thing.
Remove the air, then the wheel. Junk the wheel and ring..do not try to salvage that. In fact, if you have a torch, de-mil it...
Most excellent Josh.
Which dunes? I go to Winchester a lot. Will be down at Spinreel in a few weeks. Wish I could take the deuce someday, but a 4-5 hour drive to get there isn't something I look forward to. :)
I saw a great banner on a truck (Deuce) outside of a polling station during a recent election:
"This truck did it's duty, have you? VOTE!".
I really liked that one.
Welcome (back) Ryan!
I'm just over here in Hillsboro. I have an M35A2C and a couple of project weasels.
Maybe we'll run into each other someday soon...

My friend from New Jersey (aka: Nazi Jersey) says "Pop is character on a Rice Krispies box, not a beverage"...always liked that one.
Ian,
Go look up "HEMTT Seats" under the Deuce Hotrodding forum. This is a great mod if you want to keep military seats in the truck. They ride smooth and give (slightly) more legroom (and gut-room).
There's also a bunch of posts on hydraulic power steering updates (see "M-35Tom"'s posts)...
Woohooo!
Tom, it's great to hear from you! Glad to see this is coming to fruition!
Do you have an update on the price of the kit for those who want to order the gears? I'm still quite interested...
Thanks for pulling this off Tom. You always come up with the best stuff! :)
Er...you're talking about the inner budd cap nut? You know that comes off, right? That's why the end is square. The stud is under the inner cap nut. All you did was take off the outer cap nut.
Go buy a budd nut socket for your impact wrench. It will make sense....
Here's some pics of C/D turbos:

(These vary, so this is one example...some have wastegates, this one...
It's about a grand all told....the mount and the crane are about $500 each. Less if you go with a bolt-in mount for the crane.
A lot less than back surgery (even with insurance). At least, that's the way I like to look at it.
Spitz Lift.
Welcome to Spitzlift - The World's Lightest Portable Crane
The one that plugs into the receiver is the best idea IMO...no hacking up the truck.
