Glad you made it home safe!! makes me think I want to find a place for my spare since it was dropped for the generator. When you do find out what let loose in the transmission, please let us know.
what have you tried doing? Do they just crank and not start? did they run before? I am no expert on these but good at knowing a little bit about most automotive things.
It's really amazing how it is coming along. It seems as though you could put some large tires on it, in lieu of the scarce originals. The wheels look pretty wide.
good data points on the soup-up job! I have had a warm hub after the highway (170 deg), only to find that although the brakes were adjusted correctly, they still did drag just a little.
RE: motor
Have you called Groban's surplus? They may have things not listed on their site, and they have lots and lots of DC motors. 800-621-2405 based in Chicago, IL.
A simple, precise, but somewhat costly solution is to use a Vanner "volt-master" 50 amp battery equalizer. It will balance the 12V load, drawing some from the lower battery and some from the upper battery, depending on battery voltage. You will want to add also a DPST contactor to only connect...
I thought so too, but I have used them on a PRC-25 by plugging both connectors in, as it has two jacks. I don't think it matters which goes to which. It's the same as if you used a separate mike and earphone, and in the field, some used to wear an earphone on one ear, and the handset was plugged...
Hmm.. I'd prefer to play with the APC, but prefer to pay the bill for the m151.. dilemnas.. Very nice set of toys! i am envious, but I wont covet my neighbor's goods.. must.. not... covet!! I really need to borrow an APC around here, all the dang crackheads and creepycrawlers.. Even if I did...
does the green fan in "scrap.jpg" have its own motor such as electric? Might be intersted in that!
On the control box, you got a lot of real purty circuit breakers there.. probably DC?
MV electrical hackers take heed, those are very good to use as switches and with them, no fuses needed!
Last night I used a sawzall to cut through interior flanges in inside a 25"x18"x150" space with no gloves, eye, or ear protection, and it was dark so I lined up the blade to the mark feeling by hand by hand before starting the cut.
on the cheap side, fry's has a cheap digital for $10.. also rat shack has the good olde analog-type, can't go wrong there. a 'good' meter starts around $250 and up, but you might not notice the difference working on deuces and 240V..
depends on what else besides ohms, ac and dc volts, and amps...
Just installed 3 more of them (got them off GL also) and finished wiring them up. Here's a pic of the discharge test, sorry it was quite brilliant. If I can get the chiltzangbrone aligned correctly, I should shortly be able to move the engine oil 20 seconds into the future, so that it will be in...
