The issue of guages being off -it's true.
The GPS agrees with the speedo with new-ish 11.00x20 NDT tires. That is 'wrong' and tells me I have an error whether it be the speedo or an incorrect speedo adapter but I know what the error is and fortunately I do not have to mentally correct for it...
Tom, how can 2300RPM give you 55MPH? Not even with 11.00x20's. look at the pic. above, 52.5 MPH at 2375 RPM. Mine runs about the same.
55 MPH might be had in the vicinity of 2490 RPM. It's 0.022RPM/MPH or so on a deuce. If you have a low-RPM speed secret... please help us out here. You know we...
GL1 is fine for putting around but it does not do as good a job when it gets hot. If you are doing highway driving all day or alot of stop and go, try GL5+MT1.
RE: Homemade genny for the Duece
That's very interesting, can we see more pics, and especially the inside (genset, fuel tank) and the chassis of it?
Can you say exactly about the engine and alternator?
How does she handle on the road with such a short wheelbase/ any bouncing etc?
Ok lots of...
just a funny idea about hanging headsets while avoiding hard pointy objects..
A hard rubber dog chew-bone could be sawed in half at an angle, and mounted with a screw to a panel.. no pointies. There are also certain kinds of marine-type handholds that are made of nylon. One example is the...
Pretty!!! Very robust looking! Cheezwhiz, all these guys with lathes running around loose, it's scary!! And it's really good, to see the evolution of these designs based on the philosopical and technical aspects. It is a very rich talent pool on this forum.
About the claims and the contact area, well.. 400% * 1/5 = 80%. I suppose then they are offering you the opportunity to be more certain of a good 80% connection instead of a less confident 100% connection. I dunno. I don't mind cleaning things from time to time, it is part of PMCS. Maybe once a...
The only thing to explain that is a a drive ratio difference( trans, tire size etc.). -but the trucks are identical except for the engine. So identicality cannot be the case.
Do you mean an example case of the LDT-465-1C and LDT-465-1D ? But how can there be an RPM difference if the trucks are...
I was wore out daily after 300 deuce miles or so during the road trip last year.. My max. was 400 miles. I'd be chicken to tow a deuce with a pickup of any kind, no matter if the trailer had brakes or not. Just keep thinking about the toungue of the trailer coming through the rear of the cab...
My sticker is much older than the 1992 rebuild. Can't say the year.
Tom,
I show that to be:
49.5MPH with 9.00x20's which are 42.0" tall / 131.943" circumference
51.3MPH with 11.00x20's which are 43.5" tall / 136.655" circumference
57.6MPH with 395/85R20s'...
The data plate says 56MPH in 5th.. I assume that is 2650RPM or so, is it correct? I usually turn 2500 on the highway. I wish there were more detailed documentation on the RPM issue such as TM or factory docs or equivalent. Maybe I have not read enough. I certainly do not knwo enough about diesel...
In case the rally falls at the beginning of a possible northbound road trip, is someone hear or somewhat north of the site, who would let me stash my trailer and ATV for a few days at their place till I pass back though southward to Texas?
