Sounds like air in the fuel. I converted to a spin on filter. If it starts, it should stay running if there is fuel to feed the engine. If it dies its because the fuel runs out, because there is a leak and air is getting sucked into the fuel lines somewhere. Look around the fuel filter area and...
I would say replace all the springs if you have the means. I got a skyjacker softride 4" lift with all new springs. The truck rides much better than it did with the old stock springs. Also if you are planning on running wide tires a steering crossover is a must. I got mind from ORD, but there is...
I installed a Dakota Digital tach interface so you can use any standard gas tach. Only issue I had with it is bad connections on my part, and the instructions don't say how close the sensor needs to be to the flywheel teeth. After looking up what the spec should be on google, I turned the sensor...
Oh and I have watched more than a few jeeps get pulled out and then drove right through where they were stuck with no wheel spin at all! No offense to the jeeps though, they have served the USA well and for that they deserve respect!
The problem isn't having a diesel shop around. The problem is that nobody seems to carry a 24v Chevy starter These are converted to 24v and the only real 24v part is the starter. The glow plugs run off of 12v. The stock set up uses a resistor bank on the firewall to reduce the voltage to them...
:ditto:
My buddy paid some good $$$ for a dana 60 and a 14 bolt, like $2,000 or so. That's more than I paid for my whole truck! And with a limited slip in the front end of my M1028 from the factory, I can take this truck almost anywhere! Its a great truck to start with.
Its a sticky at the top of the CUCV page. "Doghead starter relay modification." Read all those sticky's, there is some great info in there. For the spin on filter just do a search. There are some good threads on it. Including this one...
I replaced all my springs when I did my 4" lift. That and bigger mud tires is the easiest and best mod to do. Besides the few problem solving ones like changing to a spin on fuel filter and fixing the starter relay before it leaves you somewhere trying to disconnect the batteries before the...
They are correct. Don't waste your money with crappy cables. Either make some cables out of welding cable or find some heavy duty jumper cables. I actually found a heavy duty set at Autozone. You are gonna spend some good money on them, but it will be worth it the first time you have to jump a...
Fire extinguisher, fake grenade for the 4wd shifter, red led interior lights, more gauges, and a cb radio in the dash. Outside is a tall antenna, and an OD green military storage box that I had on my LAV in iraq is mounted in the bed. And a 5.56mm round on my key chain (not live of course.)
I was talking about shooting at vehicles with the LAV's and 81mm mortars. I don't see any real training value in shooting at vehicles with paintballs. Although force on force paintball can be great training if organized properly!
I agree. It was always nice to shoot at things that actually look like vehicles. And the price they pay to have semi-realistic targets made is somewhat ridiculous. But i would be great to strip all the useful parts and just leave the shell!
Sorry about that. For a lift both shafts need to be made longer. I had to lengthen the front shaft and shorten the rear to compensate for the longer 4L80. The longer trans actually made the driveshaft angles better too.
