    ? about frame supports

They are on my frame. I don't know how much they help, if any, but I would keep them. Eventually I want to box my whole frame.

    4 new/ used CUCV's

It's sad how many of these trucks are going out to be used as targets. When i was stationed in 29 Palms there was about 20 1009's and a few 1008's on death row. I was only able to get the troop seats out of one of the 1008's. I wish they wouldve given me more time! I would've loved to get the...

At what point are the stock driveshafts to short

I say at 6" you have to lengthen driveshafts if you want to do any off roading. Besides the possibility of the shaft slipping out at full suspension droop, there is less of the shaft engaging with the splines on the output shaft in the transfer case. This will wear out the output shaft and the...

Just a few reasons it's good to own a CUCV...

It's great having the 50/60/70 thousand dollar trucks see me go through a mud pit and then turn around saying "there's no way I'm gonna make it through that!" Then the next few days the normal 'safety bubble' distance that people usually keep back increases greatly.

M1009 startup then "stall out" Hard 2nd start then OK

Ha ha, oh the joy. After I fixed it I couldn't understand why I isn't do the spin on conversion sooner! It took about half a day to do from ordering the filter and base to checking for leaks and test driving it. It was more than worth the time and money!

M1009 startup then "stall out" Hard 2nd start then OK

My truck was doing the same for a while. I figured out it was affected by the way I parked. My driveway had a slight downgrade, so of I backed in and the nose of the truck was downhill, gravity would be pushing the fuel towards the filter and the truck would start fine. If I parked with the nose...

    Air Filter?

It's definitely good to have on there for driving on dusty roads. I take it out and at least shake out most of the dust every month or so.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

That's a good place for an extinguisher. Thats where I have mine. Today I replaced the air filter with a nice washable K&N filter. And I turned up the injector pump an eighth turn. The truck feels much less sluggish now.

    What is this?? M1009

I say charge up both batteries really well and see how it works first. To me it sounds like the relay doesn't have enuf power to stay engaged. But I changed my glow plug relay because one of the terminals broke on the inside.

    What is this?? M1009

Looks like the older style of glow plug relay. And it sounds like the batteries just need to be charged up fully.

    Air Filter?

I just got the K&N filter today. I cleaned the foam pre-cleaner and put back in around the K&N filter. It traps a lot of the bigger dust and junk before it gets to the actual air filter.

37 inch hummer tires on 1008

Very true. I get more looks and more little kids telling me 'i like your truck' with my 4" lift and 37's. And the best part, this truck is actually used as a truck, hauling whatever i might need to take to the dump, and it goes many places that I have seen many other trucks fail to go. And for a...

That's why these steel soldiers guys are great!

    Hole in transfer case

Yeah you are definitely missing the clamp/tab or whatever the technical name is for the part that holds the speedo gear adapter in the transfer case. That should be an easy junkyard part to find if you don't have one.
