I found it on the Wix website and ordered it thru the auto shop i used to work at. #24309 is the base and #33123 is the shorter filter. Had to buy some 1/2 to hose barb adapters, but it wasn't too complicated.
I had the same problem. It was my fuel filter base. I researched on here and it seems to be a very common problem. I replaced the fuel filter and base with a spin on WIX filter and base about 3 months ago. Not one problem since. It starts and continues to run every time.
And that's a great avatar!
I agree completely. The limited slip allows the tires to turn at different rates, but at the same time it is limited so they arent just free spinning independent from each other. I really dont see a point of having a full locking front end. It will break parts, and ultimately we all want to have...
I just posted a write up of my 4L80 install. Its on the 4th page now. I am very happy with the way the truck drives now. And i am also going to be looking into a turbo soon (hopefully).
Yeah I thought it might have been Crash fire rescue or some kinda range safety truck. I know the lime/neon green color your talking about for the Crash fire rescue trucks. I've seen them a bunch of times by the flight lines. This is a really yellow yellow though. I tried to take a picture but...
No, i did not have to install longer ones. There is plenty of length in the stock ones. But I do agree with Cucvfreek, its a good safety item to replace on a 25+ year old vehicle.
Thanks Ambulancechser. I read up on the information you posted before I got started. I decided to stick with the 208 mostly because of the cost and because I wanted to get it done quickly. I believe it is quite capable of handling the trucks capabilities.
I did notice a bit better gas mileage...
No problem. Notice on the rear part of the inner fender, I pushed it back and secured with self tapping screws. It made the trim job less noticeable and keeps the function of the inner fender.
I had to trim the front fenders on both sides of the opening to clear these big MT's. (Rear fenders didn't need any trimming.) I had originally planned to do some trick cutting and welding of the fenders to make it look like it came from the factory with that much clearance, but decided not to...
Yeah it was a lot more than I paid for the truck itself. It is much more comfortable to drive, especially on long trips. And the fact that I can cruise at highway speed is worth it by itself. As for mileage, I had just moved back into a populated area, so the city driving really kills mileage...
Trans from junkyard: $100
Trans rebuild (w/performance adjustments) : $1,400 (they threw in a new TQ)
Transfer case rebuild: $400
Trans controller and wiring: about $1,000
Driveshaft shorten & lengthen: $300
Fluids: about $50
So all together your looking around $3,250.
The Nitto's have worked well since I've had them. I got the tires and rims as a set on craigslist for $500. The fronts are about 60% tread but the rears were maybe %20 because the previous owner had them on an IFS front end and didn't know what a tire rotation was. But they work quite well in...
I just swapped out the TH400 in my M1028 for an electronic overdrive 4L80E. It’s great because I can now drive the truck at 65 on the freeway and the engine is at about 2,000 RPM with the torque converter clutch locked. Here is what it took:
I got the 4L80 from the junkyard. It was in a ‘96...
The star is a small one, on the left of the pintle hook. I bought the truck from a government auction, and went through the whole 'registering a military vehicle for the first time' process so I am the first 'civilian' owner of the truck. There were actually about 30 CUCV's that were sold the...
Thanks. The lift is a 4" Skyjacker Softride. I am happy with it. Decent flex and still stiff enough to carry a heavy load. The Steering crossover is from Off Road Design. I highly recommend it. Everything is very heavy duty and it is designed so that you can easily add a high steer kit in the...
I've had my M1028 for a little over a year now, and when this (not so) expertly applied CARC green chips off it reveals a bright yellow paint underneath. The truck belonged to the Army. I know this because you can still see the stars they sprayed right over. Does anyone know why they would have...
I'm running Nitto Mud Grapplers- 37x13.5r17 with a 4' lift. The rims are Moto Metal. I did install a steering crossover so that i could get lock to lock without rubbing, and cut a little off the fenders so the tires would clear those too.
