    M817 Winch Destruction...the saga continues

Why couldn't you get them to increase the dia.? I know you don't have enough room for that on a deuce but I think you would on a 5-ton. I wouldn't think a carrier would work very well.

    LOGSA access?

I've been going to the LOGSA site for years. Every time I've been there, I get the warning. I don't think they are hacked that much.

    wanting some info on dueces

I wouldn't mess with cooking oil. It's too much trouble and can plug things up if not processed (especially in the winter). A multifuel will burn waste engine oil just as well and all it needs is filtered before pouring into the tank.

    M932 Recovery?

I'd say there's a pretty good chance the shoes are stuck to the drum on the locked up wheel. Use the sledge hammer method I mentioned earlier to solve that. I don't know about the caging bolts. I've never seen one that wouldn't fit. Are you sure there's not a bunch of crap in there that's not...

    WARNING: Bad Torque Rod Ends

Are these New Star brand? I sell New Star parts and would like to know before I sell any to somebody. I still say they could have been pressed in incorrectly. I agree though it doesn't look like the rubber was bonded well the the outer ring from the pics.

    M932 Recovery?

Carry you a long bar (about 3') and a sledge hammer with you when you go back. These M939 trucks are bad about the brakes sticking if left sitting for long periods. Release the brakes (with air or by caging), take the bar and go down beside the tire placing the end on the brake drum, hit the bar...

Goal: Put a fluid(oil) pump on the Deuce at 15 gpm without Electrical or gas egine

The PS pump isn't going to have very much GPM. I'd say around 5 GPM. Also as has been said above, you'll burn it up in short order running it dry when not pumping liquids. You can rule out the PS pump. Any air pumps I've seen in the 15 GPM range are air hogs. I doubt the deuce air compressor...

    wanting some info on dueces

There is basically only two transmissions (well three if you count the gas engine model). You have the 5-speed OD manual in the M35A2 and the Allison auto in the M35A3. Both are good transmissions, it's up to you on which one you'd like. There are 4 engines. Gas, LDS-427 (early model multifuel...

Possibility of using the winch hydraulics to run bed hoist.

It will work fine. You could even keep your winch and add another valve for the dump and use both. I'm running a hyd lime spreader bed on a M939 truck off of the winch hyd pump. The bed has a requirement of 2,500psi and 18 GPM, it handles it fine. I think the stock winch pump has around 25 gpm...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

The multifuel breathes fine. You have more than enough fuel and air available to melt down the rest of the engine. The main obstacles with increasing hp in a multifuel is heat melting the pistons and the weak bottom end. I agree with everything except adding a turbo will help the engine run...

Unanswered mystery questions about the M105 trailer....

Most rail regulations and DOT regs require that the load be tied down at 4 points so a single loop wouldn't work.

    M38A1/CJ5 seat frame

I've got a old CJ5. While I'm not trying to pass it off as a M38A1, I am planning on giving it a camo paint job. The seats are shot and I'm looking for some seats to go with the camo paint. I was looking online a M38A1 seats. I'm wondering how the M38A1 seat cushions would fit the CJ5 frames. I...

    M923a1 air brake question

Air brake leaks can be tricky. You can have a relay leaking but something else could be causing the relay to leak (changing the relay won't fix the leak). I've fooled with the M939 brakes a little. Best thing to do if the leak isn't something obvious is look over the air brake section in the TM...

    Post Delete?

For some time now you've not been able to delete threads or post. You can edit your post for up to 90 days, I think. The only exception to this is the classifieds. You can still delete there.

    backlash on m35a2 pto

Too much play is better than not enough. I've always just done mine by feel but you have to take into account the backlash already in the PTO itself. I can tell lots better by "feel" than I can visually observing the backlash. It's almost impossible to set the PTO up the way described in the...

    M923a1 air brake question

This is my suggestion also. It's fairly common for a diaphragm to give out. One word of caution- it is possible to replace the diaphragm without buying the whole brake chamber but you better know what you are doing. There's a spring in there that can KILL you. It could also be something as...

    A2 vs A3 cab

A3 cabs are dimensionally the same as a A2 cab. There may be some upgrades here and there like rustproofing and extra braces (I've seen A2 cabs with rustproofing) but they are the same shape and dimensions. Doors, windshields, tops, and such can be swapped between the two.

    NH-250 Supercharged??

I'm still trying to rap my head around what the advantages are to putting a blower on a NHC250. Cost isn't one of them because you could probably find a good takeout 400 for less money than you can supercharge a 250. I don't see performance being an advantage because you can add a turbo...

    NH-250 Supercharged??

The main problem I see with this discussion is some people are coming from the race car world and light truck world and trying to make applications in heavy military trucks. If you've ever had a 855 Cummins apart and compared it to a Duramax you'd see why a Duramax swap into a 5-ton is a bad...

    NH-250 Supercharged??

You're talking about putting a Duramax in a 5-ton? A 5-ton truck could really benefit from a engine swap but a medium duty pickup engine isn't the answer. If you want to spend big bucks cobbling up a blower on a NHC-250, have at it. I could spend probably half the money on one and still out...
