    MEPs on Casters

jimbob thanks for the experience you have shared and the pics. you are using yours for the exact purpose i have in mind. now a different question. guess i'll have to find someone with a tractor to loft these off the trailers unless i can install casters while on the trailers, replace the...

    MEPs on Casters

the locking casters are what i have. 2 free, 2 locking and the wheels are solid! this may work out okay. was really concerned about enough vibration to eat up the bearings, but if the engine mounts are in decent shape (right now under a foot of snow) maybe vibration won't be as much of an...

    MEPs on Casters

I recently won and retrieved a MEP-002a and a MEP-003a. Have been thinking about putting 4 heavy duty casters under each so they can be moved around for maintenance in their new shed to be built in the spring. Has anyone tried this? Also, would like to make ASKs for them. Anyone done this...

Got My Babies Home in Good Shape

Last week I picked up a M101A3 at Ft. Meade and the next day added a MEP002a to it at Newcastle, DE. Towed them home in Thursday's snow/ice storm without incident. Custom hitch mount worked great! Even with the 37" HMMWV wheels it ran almost level behind my 1/2 ton Chevy crew cab...

    M101A2 pick up questions

i picked up 2 trailers past 2 weeks. the one this morning was a mep003 on a 116a2. in both cases i was able to hook the chain hooks together and drape them behind the mounting plate for the pintle hitch. changed out the bulbs to 12 volt and aired the tires. today's haul was 440 miles from ft...

    Cannibalized while waiting for EUC!

As I told my friend, Al, things seem to be as they were when we last saw them. My winnings were as they were when i bidded on them. Hopefully, his will be restored by the time he claims them. merry Christmas! jerry

Am home safe! Generator pick up went well. rougher condition than i hoped for with "10" hours but was as shown in the auction pics. we'll see what it takes to get it going in the spring. holes in the trailer didn't match so i drilled one new one and carried it home on 2 bolts mounted...

Am at Aberdeen Proving Ground Army lodging for the night. All went well at Ft. Meade GL. the trrailer even still had the crank handle in place for the tongue jack! Met SS Member "USMC80" there who was also picking up a trailer. Very nice young man who helped me test out the tail light...

From Zero to 2 MEPs and 2 Trailers and One EUC

Thanks Lucky Dog, I am assuming 1/2" bolts will work. Do you remember the size? I have a 12 volt compressor with me and a jack so i can check whether wheel bearings are decent. Also 12 volt bulbs, brake fluid, grease, tools, wiring adapter, etc. Figure i can get the trailer squared away...

"Hey storeman, bet I can bend your hitch too!" AceHigh, that was the plate i looked at from northern when i decided to have a heavier one done from some 1/2" plate i had on hand. cost me $50, a bit less than the northern rig but it is much more rigid. i'm sure it can be damaged though. what...

From Zero to 2 MEPs and 2 Trailers and One EUC

thanks 48Chevy6. i believe the 101 series trailers all have the smaller lunettes that should work in the combination pintle hitch. the 101a3 and the 116a2 are the biggest items i'll try to pull with my pickup. If anyone out there knows differently regarding the lunette size, please chime in...
