If your not up against a deadline, do it yourself, you might even enjoy it. I'm not paying anybody to R&R anymore. It's one of the great things about these trucks, we can do these jobs ourselves. Plus when the EMP hits, an apocalypse strikes, or zombies overrun, we can keep going alittle longer.

I say get another estimate or buy yourself some cheap transportation, do the job yourself, then sell the temporary vehicle. Take your time and learn how to do it.

It depends what you want to spend. I personally would rather buy one from a private party than a dealer or even from gl. The work you do on it makes it your truck, plus saves you alot of money. If you were up in OR, I'd sell you one. Watch craigslist, I have bought them there.

I didn't figure I would be towing my M101a2 off road. I replaced my pintle with one of those convertible Ball/pintle hook arrangements also. I like it, 2" ball or pintle.

The M1009 has the gov lock, a far cry from a detroit locker. If you have both wheels off the ground and you turn one of them and the other wheel turns the same way you have a posi of some kind in there. If the other wheel turns the opposite way it is open.

Nothing came stock, original with the locker, the CUCV's had it, but not the M1009. Alot of vehicles came with a posi as an option, possibly the Detroit locker too, but it was always an option. The CUCV's were not aline of trucks, but a military order.
