extended cab deuce project questions and advice

oh, so you want something like a dodge crew cab - four regular doors except the rear are like phone booth doors?

    fail-proofing full hydro steering

yep. please see pt. 3 in post 94 above. as already stated, it is a potiential failure point. in my opinion it is extremely unlikely to go out completely and without warning - but that's my opinion, but it actually happened to you, so i'm not arguing.

    fail-proofing full hydro steering

i understand. not trying to be hard about it, but these same statements come up a lot, and i wanted to be sure that the correct info is in this thread. this is a very specific application and it is imperitive that you (not 'you' specifically, Big Red, 'you' in general) fully understand how the...

    Yet another transmission replacement thread!

no, for two reasons: the jack shaft has a 'dust seal' that is under the 'dust cap' - this cap is what you see screwed onto the threaded end of the slip yoke. this dust cap and seal arrangement uses a clip to keep the splines of the yoke shaft from damaging the dust seal. this clip, along with...

    Yet another transmission replacement thread!

J's correct - i just did a removal and the driveshaft can stay. also, you don't have to unbolt the winch drive shaft - just let it pull out of the slip yoke. then pull/replace the PTO with flange and yoke assy still attched to the PTO flange. re-align during final transmission alignment...

    fail-proofing full hydro steering

again, this is a manual transmission equipped vehicle - a loss of engine power does not mean you have a loss of pumping power unless you take it out of gear. the only way you would have catastrophic pumping loss is: hydraulic pump belt loss (not an issue with gear-driven units) complete...

    Peter Bog's CAD deuce schematic!

attached are many of the discussed modifications / corrections. things not yet addressed: 3) pressure switch in start circuit - what years? 9) CB in flame heater circuit - where, what size? also, the turn signal indicator ground - following the switching circuit the way the unit is drawn...

    Peter Bog's CAD deuce schematic!

Bjorn, i'm working on these final corrections now. i believe that i follow your bulb numbers except for the BO: are the BO tail and stop and front BO markers all the same #? also, i thought at one point you gave me info on the head light bulbs but cannot find that...?

Who has installed ARB air lockers in at least one axle of thier bobber?

remember, guys: i know we are talking about mechanical lockers and calling them 'Detroits' in generic terms (for the most part). however, if you are going to be buying a mechanical locker you really should be buying the Ouverson Ultra-locker; it is a better design made out of much better...

Who has installed ARB air lockers in at least one axle of thier bobber?

i'm going to have to disagree with you on all counts. 1. "Bobbed trucks will not go nearly as well as a 6x6." - the original question is about lockers in a 4x4. so if you had 4wd, it begs to say that you would go farther than a stock deuce with only 3wd. obviously, that's not apples/apples. so...

    brake line fitting frozen

my line wrenches rounded them off also. most of these lines have been on for years won't be coming off without vice-grips. often, if you just start with vice grips and take care to use the flat part of the jaws on the flats of the nuts you can break them loose without any damage to the nuts...

    Boost and Pyro Gauges?

here is the thread i made on the Turbocator guage install in my truck - it is a combined EGT and boost guage that only needs power for illumination. i actually just removed it and am wanting to sell it - $150 and it's yours, complete kit with mounting cup and instructions. edit: this is the...

4 wheel steering on a deuce?anyone done it?

how are you running the rear winch?

4 wheel steering on a deuce?anyone done it?

normally, yes, but not if the cylinders were oriented to keep the respective rod / cap end relationship. no, it wouldn't 'bind', but it would change the aligned steer relationship of the two rears slightly. but, like you said, this is for off-road; on-road wouldn't see near the articulation...

4 wheel steering on a deuce?anyone done it?

actually, this statement is incorrect. it will work for a while - but you inevitably have cylinder creep and will find that your rears are no longer in-line with each other. you'll have to crack the intermediate line and bleed in either direction to get the rears re-aligned.

it might be because, regardless of calendar age, they are technological / capability / reliability / functionality dinosaurs compared to the LMTVs.
