More important is, what it does when it is working. Is it using oil? How much? Slow idle is not good, especially in the cold. Those engines tend to run cold. You will see slobber running down the stack. Its far better to pull out the throttle & let her run at 11 or 1,200 RPMS. If your going to...
Its been a while since I played with them. Mostly the gasoline ones. If I had your symptoms, on a gas heater, I would guess the solenoid is dirty & or faulty. The orfices in them are very tiny & if contaminated, can restrict fuel. That would be my guess, why it doesn't run on the low setting. On...
Its a great truck. All good advice above. I have driven one all over the north country. Not fast, but you'll get there. Looks like yours has seen a little domestic combat. That 302 is a great engine, for its time. be sure to keep it timed properly. If it gets retarded much, it will break...
Sounds like an oil cooler. I have lost them before. They are not always in the radiator, but can be in the cooling system elsewhere. Its not to big of a deal, if that is it. Drain the system. Replace the oil cooler element. Try to flush the system first, then refill with water, adding a box of...
I have seen vehicles "slow idle" for long periods of time, especially in winter where they are running too cold , not up to temperature, that have severly diluted the crankcase oil. Low compression contributes. The stack shows signs of this. In a DD, much will accumulate in the air box & can...
You don't even have to disconnect the center cable, Just connect the 12 volt charger to the battery's positive & negative posts, that you wish to charge. If you have two 12 volt chargers, charge both at once, the same way. That charger doesn't care what the battery is hooked to, as long and you...
That is still a lot of vehicle for the money. Its pretty sharp. Some Folks don't have a place to work on one either. Compare the price to a regular pickup - what do you get there for the same money?

The tow bars breaking is a symptom of them being too hard. Sleeves, even made from mild steel, would be a vast improvement, in that application.

6x19 is the correct winch line. It is fairly stiff, but it has good abrasion resistance. Be careful about other varities, such as the elevator rope mentioned above. It is much more pliable, because it is made up of smaller/finer strands. It is not rated for as much load as the 6x19, & has little...
Perhaps improper brake adjustment, or even broken return spring. Its really easy to check the adjustment/back things off, rather then smoke things up.

Had an older GM pick up, years ago. It used a sealed ball bearing on the wheel end of the axle. If you loaded the truck much, the bearing would disintegrate, and the axle would come out like that. It happened several times to me. Once it happened doing sixty, but no traffic. got it slowed with...
Be careful about prying too much, but sometimes you can put an even pull on the tranny, and get under there & smack the edge of the disc, to break it loose.

Make sure the throw out bearing is not stuck on the guide sleeve. Stick a small bar up there and make sure it slides & is free. Also the splines on the input shaft might be stuck/frozen in the clutch disc. Use a bar to help it slide free. you might need somebody under there to help it slide out...
