I've heard (not seen) people using Gamma Goat wheels....no idea on fitment or size, but something you might want to look at (if only to disprove it).
Sorry, wish I could be of more help...
OD Iron muffler on my deuce. Note the band clamp at the top, and the flapper (came with it from the USAF).
Quiets it down nicely, but not too bad. Still need ear protection on the hwy, but you can drive around town without. Idle is nice and quiet for the neighbors....
Cliff, look at my newer pics...plenty of room on the studs.
Also, I had the wheels balanced because standard weights won't work on these wheels (or so they said), so I got the wheels balanced and will see how off the tires are. If they give me grief I will go with beads.
RE: Re: RE: Deuce short comings
Apples to apples guys...comparing a Mog to a Deuce is like comparing a John Deer tractor to a Freightliner OTR tractor. Both are designed to to completely different things.
The 'Mog started out as basically a farm tractor and has been under constant development...
Thanks Mike! Yeah, I get busy sometimes and the Deuce has to wait....sad but true.
I had no idea that Gringeltaube was involved in the design! Coolness! Well, I am very happy with how they turned out...great work both of you. I love the look.
I'm going to try to shoot some more paint on...
Wow...that's a great diagram Gringeltaube!
I think you should pull those other diagrams from the other posting and get a sticky going....lots of great info that needs to be corralled together for ease of use.
RE: knuckle boom for a duce
Search for HIAB or PM Cranetruck....he's the man for figuring out the HIAB crane for the deuce. Note that his model was actually built for an M35 series truck...
OK...some thicknesses (measuring at the finger holes on the ODI rim, and at the center hub ring on the stock rim).
Stock rims: 0.465"
OD Iron rims: 0.497"
I could measure them...they are thicker for sure. Note that the front lugs look from the pics like they are too short, but I can say for certain that the lug nuts are all the way down the stud, and all threads are making contact (with a few to spare).
Chris,
Just weights inside the wheels (glued) to the inside and banded...got it very close. Had the wheels balanced first before the rubber went on. I'm going to try these out at speed and if we need more I will go with beads.
I've had it out a few times and it feels pretty good...will...
Thanks Tiger.
I would not recommend running these 14.50R20 tires on a stock rim. The manufacturer (Michelin) recommends at least a 11" wheel for these tires (some people have managed to get them on stock rims, but IMO they look goofy and probably are not safe). These wheels are 11" wide...
Thanks guys! Thanks for posting some of the pics too. Not sure why some of you can't get to photobucket, but oh well. Note that the ones on Photobucket are super high rez if you really want to zoom in and get a close look.
I'll get a closer snap of the rear studs, but they are fine (same...
Hey all,
At last I have the tires/wheels on the deuce.
Here's some pics:

Just thought you'd all like to see what Mike's wheels look like in Tan. Note the non-flipped hubs with the nearly perfect tracking...
I always was told the numbers rounded up to the nearest ton of weight. An unloaded deuce (aprox 13K lbs) would show a "7". Loaded completely (approx 23K hwy) would show a "12", etc. Weight is combined (C) if a trailer is towed, hence the "C" addition.
Someone please confirm this for me....it...
