without regard to making judgements about it, I would like to make the technical comment that for the same power (headlamp wattage etc) the 12V electical load will be twice the current in Amperes as the 24V load was. This would be hard on various wires and switches, doubling the current through...
RE: installing generator on M35A2
Thanks for the encouragement, my aching back needs all it can get.
About the plate, it is not flexing, it is the mounts that are flexing. I believe the reason for this comes from the lack of the straps of the fuel tank which were attached to the mounts at the...
Here is a map and some rules, but they seem to conflict about ATVs. Please inquire.. Might need the ATV to go potty or to the store or something and it's a biiiig place! (seriously I will likely park the truck and erect a couple antennas!)

Same sentiments here, might want to ride along for some bogging, but can't mess up the top-heavy commo truck. I'd be almost as happy to throw up some antennas and do the MILCOM thing at base camp in the evening. A Friday entry by an advance party sounds good too.
Maybe they'd let us have our...
Not to deviate from topic, but driving with the "cruise control" on is probably the scariest possible idea. I'm glad you and your truck survived to tell the story and set this as an example of what can go wrong. In any case, please post them pics!
Same here, I bought two of the largest "car batteries" that would fit and they have done very well. There may be some issues for fording where the 6TL's would be better, are they not submersible to a degree? -but I don't plan to ford.. Since the box is much larger than two car batteries, some...
RE: very nice Andy!!
Hey Andy!! good going, what a nice truck! I'm really happy for you. The way GL goes, looks like someone was watching out for you. If I am ever up that way again I'd like to check it out. Also, like to meet some of the folks in the area as well. I don't know where this...
Hey jason, any updates or proposed dates? we could sort of check our calendars and be ready to pay and reserve the park . I see we could use a few more MV's!!
I am confused..
I previewed, to make sure the pics were in order, and then submitted. Then, the images were in the reverse order from what the preview showed. What is the deal, do i have to post them so they appear in preview to be in the reverse order?
Thanks,
PJ
installing generator on M35A2
First, I must apologize to ichudov, if I offended you about your military surplus generator set. I am sorry, I did not mean for it to read in a negative way. As always, written mesages don't convey feelings or intent well.
I agree about the proper grounding. The...
RE: Re: RE: Might be looking to start over- built 3208T-deuc
Bob,
although It's not going to work for me and you out due to my stuff and the amount of special stuff on your truck, can you post some pics of your truck anyway? sounds like a cool truck. Makes me wonder if a spicer like that...
RE: compression
What is the orange cap on the head? It looks military, what kind is it?
I have a small 2-cylinder air cooled diesel that has a lever on each head that holds the exhaust valve open for compression relief so the engine can be started by hand. Maybe that one has something like that.
I use the lucas oil stabilizer, 1 gallon jug at oil change time. not sure how it stops dry starts, and the oil pressure still takes 15 seconds to build up. I do notice less noise from the engine during the no-oil period.
I also believe that cranking for a few seconds before starting to at...
Re: Might be looking to start over- built 3208T-deuce though
maybe.. I'll PM you. That setup, if it's done right, yould get me the speed i need for me emergency work, and my deuce is already very solid.. just gear-bound.
looks like a standard type of sealed (waterproof/resistant) guage. These are very common type.
Do you have the diameter of the mounting hole it came from?
Does it take 3 screws?
Is it 0-150VAC 60 Hz?
Is the face itself plastic?
If you can't find one exactly the same, one very similar can...
there was a good article recently about repairing them, mostly it was cleaning. I'd try it with the old one just for fun if I ever had to replace the unit.
