RE: Coolant filter mounting, accessible valve for heater cor
That is a great idea! 90% of the time we don't want the heat here and it is a pain to get at the valves if they are deep inside the engine compartment.
Nice looking box, it will look great painted up. The only thing about the deuce intercom, it is not stereo and has a somewhat restricted audio range, will sound more like a good AM radio than a CD. The waterproof speakers inside the LS-type boxes are 8 ohms (a transformer makes them 500 ohms)...
well maybe not oil, but a thin black liquid, mostly water, was discharged from my inboard air tank this morning at pre-drive PMCS time. The outboard didn't do this, just some water and vapor.
This was after disturbing the air tanks during part of another project and moving them around, tapping...
well you will be sort of close to DFW.. 250 miles.. Good luck and always drive and haul carefully so you get your prize home in one piece! Be sure to take lots of pics and post them! especially around any interesting dumpsters on site etc..
I drove it to work today. I saw 9PSI at 900 degrees uphill hard at 2500RPM, and 6 PSI at 700 degrees on flat road at 55. the guage reads 15 max, so it is just fine.
It is a mechanical pyro, that is, no electronics excep the meter and probe. No amplifier. I agree about the post-turbo readings. DrFoster has suggested that I may be reading 100 degrees high due to heat soak from the turbo because my probe is 2" from the turbo exhaust and therefore could go to...
Well after much work, i still can't get the flame heater to operate.
0. I bought Bjorn's flame heater detection kit. It works fine, even the smallest light shining on it triggers the lamp. (unfortunately the lampholder I used has an internal 37K resistor because it was used with a 120V neon...
RE: M107
If you are picking up with a deuce, better watch sharp turns and backing with that gasoline engine there! the bumperettes might make short work of it.
Thank you very much! Since I bought some proper tools, it's made a difference in what I can do. I still have to paint it and I'll wait till I have a guage-illuminating lamp figured out. I thought it was just my eyes, sure the young soldiers in their 20's would have less of a problem seeing the...
could it be possible that the very cold weather could make the rubber hard and easier to crack? I know it soulds silly but I 'broke' a frozen rubber covered extension cord once.
Ok, for an update on the boost guage (using a fuel pressure guage for the boost).. As shown in my previous images, the pyro install included a pretty sloppy mounting job for the guage. I thought about a box like a few people have done, they are very nice looking. In the end, however, I'd like to...
I just re-read the article, and also the "racing the diesel" article as well. Thanks again for finding these!
These are both very good technical marketing pieces with the emphasis on "technical" and offer alot of good info for those of use who are not diesel experts like Banks and other big...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Genset noise
I would like to know more about the remote oil filter.. My unit requires a new filter every 250 hours, but it's a little cartridge-type thing that goes inside the engine under the plate where your oil attachment is mounted. I'd prefer a bigger filter with more...
I saw a replacement MC for the M35 that had a front and rear chamber, for splitting the brake system into front and rear zones. The unit still filled through the same top hole. What about this? is it a viable upgrade?
if you have the diameter of the body and the panel mounting screw circle (or square), Nortex electronics has a whole shelf of 120VAC meters. Some are the coveted "expanded scale" type.. not original but good and useful.
