You realize that the Autostick trans in the Beetle is not that complicated, right?
Don't you dare change it to a manual, as you would be killing it's value!:)
PM me re the VW; I'll see what I can remember on fixing them - I had 2 Autostick VW's Beetles - cut my teeth on many of them & I still...
North Carolina doesn't legally allow raising or lowering any vehicle more than 6" from it's factory ride height. Law has been on the books for years, but LEO's won't bust you for it unless they pull you for some other infraction... then they start writing a book on you - it's also illegal in NC...
I know that they are not the preferred way of lifting a truck, and are not recommended, but I've never heard the illegal part...
Here is a good article on why you should not use them -

Wow, they only get hot at highway speeds? Sounds PERFECT for use on CUCV's that likewise get too hot at highway speeds... rofl
But I'm not too sure about it being 'airless'; non-pneumatic, I'd say, but then I'd just be accused of being correct... couldn't let that happen, could we? -...

Here is a cross-reference parts list that was compiled in .PDF format by Cabell Garbee some years ago; this info comes from PeteR on the old Big Electric forum...

Solder vs crimp... the ages-old discussion...
Interesting to note that all of the connectors that I quote & sell for military applications are crimp - Has been this way for the last 6 years for me... :-)
If it flies, floats, or land-crawls in the military, the crimp variety of connector is...
Also - avoid using any tire cleaners/surface protectants that contain alcohol; it dries out the rubber by shedding off the oils in the rubber -

BTW - Like all Change... this is going to take...
Okay.... so I seem to be in this 'infinite loop' called Read this Message... maybe I need to push "Button 2" to understand this in a language other than English? 'Cause it sure don't seem to be English, or else, I just ain't gittin' it....
Wait, maybe this new SS layout is the Internet...
Agreed that the HUMVEE is being asked to do jobs that it was not designed to do - but isn't it better to give a warfighter some protection rather than none at all?

One option to extend the life of the HUMVEE for awhile -

Geez Ted... if you can do THAT much block damage with a screwdriver, then maybe you should never pick up a ratchet and go anywhere near a 6.5?

Ray at Helitool / Uglytrucking has disc brake conversion kits for the M37 axles, allowing you to use modern GM disc brakes setups, but regarding wheel options, it's pretty much YOYO - you're on your own...

I'm doing the 6.2 into M37 swap, using a GM C60 bellhousing with adaptor plate, & adding a Spicer 3053A trans - overdrive 5th.
Being the Internet, you won't find loads of info on this adaptation, and some info you do find, usually opinions, are occasionally based on near truths...
Hobie - I don't QUITE agree with the Miata comment - most of the reason for good condition 1st-gen Miatas seeing higher sales prices is because of the Spec Miata racing class. Most Spec Miata guys & gals are finding (M37) it better to start with a good condition, lower-mileage car as a basis...
