Welcome to SS. I would go to Autozone and buy the repair manual for a Chevy Truck form 73-87. There will be some differences but most of the electrial and trans on back stuff will be the same.

Make sure all cables are tight. Just a little but loose can do it.

The truck I have is singles and towed a 29 foot 5th wheel and it weighed about 10,000 lbs. He never had any problems. My current truck weighes 4750 lbs empty. The other truck weight a bit more with the crew cab. And it was towed on a bed mounted 5th wheel hitch. But that trailer had brakes.

Ok dont yell at me cuz I did not do it but, my civilan C20 towed a 5th wheel trailer weighing over 10,000 lbs. This was a few times and about 50 -100 miles each time. Now my Grandfarthers other truck witch was the same thing but older and a crew cab, towed the same trailer form MD to FL and...

I did see the exhust, thats what made me think it was a Gasser. But when they pulled it out it sounded like a Muti.

Yes that was very sad. It must have been a muti. Lots of smoke and kinda sounded like it. What a waste.
