M1008 shift points at 12 and 22, I have replaced every piece of rubber, modulator, new trans filter and oil. Nice and smooth can't even feel the shifts. Sometimes it does not drop into first , the first one or to start and stops, once it warms up no problem at all.

I used a pry bar against a tooth and also used a wrench on one bolt and a socket on another. One or the other would loosen and would have to use the pry bar on the last one.

In the air cooled business we are trained not to submerse aluminum carbs for more than 2 hours when using carb cleaner. The aluminum is sealed at time of manufacture and submersion over 2 hours can deterioriate the sealant and cause porus issues.

Probably, the fuel pump is below the front battery, there are some rubber hose connections at the fuel pump that could be the problem.
If its rubber replace it, if its electrical clean it.
Ed I would replace all the rubber vac hoses before I start adjusting. If you are losing vac it will shift hard and late.

I did cover gaskets, intake gaskets, new intake [gimpyrob had some for sale] only cuz they brand new and looks good, new thermostat and cross over pipe gaskets. Blast the covers and paint them black, wire wheel and polish crossover pipe and clear coat as well as clearcoat the intake.

I have had no problems on short trips, but before I venture out too far I want to replace the ujoints. The rears had some rust on them last time I had the tranny out, greased them up, no vibration but just would not trust them on a 2-3 hr trip.
I used to have a slide in mounted on a '76 F250 4x4, It would scare the bejebbers out of me having to lift it to the max of the jacks and then it would rack when a rivet got it hung up.
