    the ultimate Navy radio hamshack

Those are Navy teletype machines - not too many folks have any teletypes in operating condition, they are a niche market I guess. 7mmTCU - looking over his gear, he owns THREE R-390A receivers. I own one and its a resto job, I'm glad I have it, but maybe he has three different makers to check...

    1948-52 willys

I knew it would be an F-134 when I saw the hood scoop. That was a common bubba mod done to old flat-fenders to allow the taller engine to bolt into the lower CJ-2 and CJ-3A jeeps. The F-134 was meant for the CJ-3B and CJ5 series jeeps. Also, the M38A1 had that engine.

Lacrosse Semi Trailer Model DF 6T-33F?

Are you referring to a trailer made by a company called "Lacrosse", or a trailer meant for hauling the Lacrosse missile system?

    junk yard find

Might be easier and cheaper to just buy the whole thing, and part it out when you get home. Whatever's left over, sell to the scrapman.

    junk yard find

Most of the pics look like a wrecker bed without the crane. Lotsa good parts though. Someone sure could use the winch, snatch block, and the leg extenders. First pic is a lifting sling bar. Used for sling loading a truck underneath a Chinook for airborne operations.

    the ultimate Navy radio hamshack

REO54 - digital is great for lightweight and ease of use, but nothing beats "hollow state" technology for ease of repair, maintenance, and quality of the sound, IMHO. Try soldering anything on surface mount technology and see - I know, I had to do it a bit in my last job. When you have to look...

    Custom V100 Wheels (pics)

Did you make the fuel inlet cover out of the bottom of a high-pressure tank? It looks contoured like one of them....

Tell you what, I'd love to have a collection like that. But I would HATE to have to pay the power bill.

    antenna bracket VRC home-made

With only 4 watts max output on the CB radio, I think you'll be fine. If you were installing an RT-524 radio (the original for that antenna) and had it cranked up you'd have some RF burns at the very minimum when the key was down. Otherwise, your reasoning for the location make sense now. I...

    antenna bracket VRC home-made

I don't like it. Not that you haven't done a great job fabbing up the mount, that looks fantastic. However the location IMHO is bad. Too low to overcome the radio interference caused by the shelter box on the back, plus the antenna looks like it is in a nice convenient location to...

    Lug Nuts and such

And another error some guys make, even me once in a while: lefty-loosey righty-tighty on the RIGHT side of the truck only. (passenger side). Driver's side is OPPOSITE, lefty-tighty righty-loosey. I've seen folks with impacts on the driver's side saying "dammit this just won't come off" and...

    Lug Nuts and such

To be fair, you can overtighten the lug nuts too. Those who put a 3/4" impact on them and leave the sucker on for a minute tightening the sucker are going to find out what happens to overtorqued studs when you hit a pothole. Before a big trip (or once a month) check the lug nuts. If you own...

    the ultimate Navy radio hamshack

Take a look at the radio collection this gent has amassed. It is the largest operational Navy radio hamshack I have ever seen. He has done all his own resto, and his webpage is LOADED with info on his rigs. I have attached some pics from his site, and also the link: K4NYW Navy Radio Shack

    info on LS-215 speaker

Here are a couple pics from a LS-3 speaker from WWII for comparison. The speaker looks pretty much the same on the outside, but the internals are updated. Like I said, I believe the new nomenclature is due to an updated audio transformer, mostly.

    info on LS-215 speaker

Well, I got a few minutes today to play around with the speaker, I took it apart and here's what it looked like inside. After years of sitting in a scrap pile at Coleman's, not only was the inside rust-free and like new, the paper element of the speaker was like new, as was the felt lining of...
